    Unrestored, original 18000miles,
    look but don't touch.
How many 18000 mile dinos can there be?
How good are the suspension bushes or hoses or gaskets after all this time with such limited use?

93 octane has not been available in California accept by special order for quite a few years. Two points on the octane or cetane scale makes a huge difference.

I have quite a few old clunkers in my current hurd. My 1953 Lincoln and 62 Corvair Turbo (both with hardened vavle seats) won't run without pinging away unless the ignition is set far back of the original settings.

The national standard for 91 Octane mandate was supposed to take effect in 2000 but has been delayed several times.

I have not heard recently about when this takes effect as well as some other sweeping standards that will change other gasoline formula factors.

I know a few years ago our service department had a slew of low mileage F40s and 355s with fuel line, tank, pump, injector etc... problems and even a few with valve problems all of which were fuel related when the refiners made some sweeping changes.

I hope we never see those kinds of problems again.

    Regards,

    Bill

One of the few advantages of being on the East Coast.

Sunoco sells 93 octane pump gas at all their stations.

I even have a Sunoco station near my office that pumps 100 octane, pricey, but available.

One of the latest US chairs and flares cars, in superb condition (two owners), recently sold for more than $150K. I have also heard good things about the Road Scholars car.

No connection, just think they're sweet old cars that, when complete, in near perfect condition and equipped with all the extras, are moving quickly.

It's a freak when one car goes at that price level, it's a trend when multiples do...

In Jan 2006, the local FCA club had an event at the Carb Connection dyno and mine pulled 143hp in fourth gear at 5500 RPM but was waved off above that due to running too lean above that.

There haven't been many sales and it has been difficult to assess prices lately, but I wouldn't be surprized if a great driver hit $150K this spring or summer in a real world change of hands (i.e. not at a major auction/shilling). I'm currently holding out on selling a Euro 246GTS in excellent mechanical condition until prices climb further. I've already put 7000Km on it in 9 months and 2 of those months were down time where it spent parked at the race shop while they fit it in to have new bushings and brakes.

Low mileage is impressive, but can be a can of maintenance worms.

Personally, I'd rather see receipts for a well serviced car with thrice that mileage rather than an undriven, low mileage car that has been sitting.

Probably sold 5 or 6 times in the past couple of weeks.

Yeah, but Coker is now asking for something like $400.00 bucks each for the XWXs! I know they're "correct", but I refuse to pay that much...

I see this particular complaint pretty regularly here. "Damn those coker tires are expensive." And they are, but, they are limited production and a single source item.

The same complaint can be made about almost all the parts for Dinos. How about a gear box bearing that Ferrari charges over $400 for? Or an original pouch (if you dare) on Ebay with books for $6K? Maybe a windshield for $1500 (plus shipping) or... welll, I hope you get my point.

All of these parts are pricey compared to what a 2005 Ford Mustang, or for that matter a 1965 part would cost. Extremely limited production tied to our limited demand, dictates price.

I don't know what Coker's production costs are, but I'm sure their spoilage rate is pretty high. How often do you all think they run 205/70-14 XWX's, and they have to toss them as they approach 4 yrs old, right?

I guess I just don't understand the complaint. Buy 'em or don't, that's up to you, but I don't think, under the circumstances, that they're overpriced compared to the other stuff we all want and buy for our cars.

i have bought tires from coker before, and regardless of price, i have no complaints. sure, i would love to head down to discount tire and bicker with them over my tires using tirerack prices to get a better deal. but, i just installed new rear tires for our 05 maserati qp after 8k miles. they cost almost $300 before tax/road hazard/balance/etc......

by the time everything was said and done, i had a bill for over $900 for two tires. trust me, i buy tires so frequently for my cars that this wa sthe best del to be had given what we use the cars for and how we use them. true these are high performance tires, but being realistic, this isn't a bad price price for wintage tires that no one else is willing to offer.

Before you buy from Coker, check with LongStoneTyres.com. Their price is 199 UK Pounds Sterling ($365.64 USD as of today). Sometimes they offer free shipping worldwide - check with them before you order.

I ordered from them a few months ago and everything went smoothly.

Last year I bought a new set of XWX's for my Dino as the old ones were about 12-15yrs old and though still had lots of tread, left they were too hard and old to be driving fast on them.
When I took the car out with the new tires it had a vibration between 65 and 85 mph. I first thought it was a suspension problem but after a lot of invetigation and rebalancing, I had the tires checked on a Hunter Road Force balancer (Custom Aligment and Balancing in Mountian View)and it turned out that two of the tires were bad.
I sent them back to Coker and they sent me two new ones, one of which was worse than the one I returned. So I sent it back it back for a replacement. It did not end there as that tire was bad as well and it took a final round of returning a tire and getting a replacemant to get a good tire.
So it took 8 tires to end up with 4 good ones and an absurd amount of time moving tires to the balancing shop and UPS.
I have to say Coker was good about replacing the bad tires, but I have serious doubts about the quality control under which those tires are being made.
    Cheers,
    Mark
