A new display at the Savoy Auto Museum in Cartersville, GA features some of the personal cars of well-known customizer Chip Foose. Some are quite modified, others are box stock, and one of the latter is this 330 GTC. The collection will be there for about 4 months.

I keep passing the billboard and I still haven't stopped in. I need to do that one of these days.

It's very nice. Just the right size for me, the rotation of exhibits is fantastic. I think they've got 14 or 15 different things this year...(I'd have to look at the exact number)

That's a good point. I visited the Petersen and LeMay museums in 2022, and while they are fantastic collections, they show so many cars that touring the entire museums is a bit tiring. I think that Savoy is just about the right size so that those who pay the $15 admission get their money's worth. But as a (near) local, I realized the first time I was there that the $55 annual membership is a much better deal, considering how often they rotate things. If you go even once every quarter, at least 75% of what you see will be different than the last time you were there. They even rotate in a few cars from their permanent collection from time to time. And the occasional special presentations in the theater have all been very worthwhile.

And, by the way, the cafe has some surprisingly good food for a museum restaurant.

For sure. I have a membership too. I still don't go enough.

A fun detail to notice is that they turn all the wheels on the cars so the logo is in the correct orientation to the floor.

The caption of the last photo sent me on an internet rabbit hole, as I've never seen "Pinin Farina" separated like that. Have only seen it as one word so never thought of it as somebody's name (in the sense of first name-last name).

    Pieced together from Wikipedia:
Battista Farina was born in Cortanze, Italy. The tenth of eleven children, his nickname, "Pinin" (the youngest/smallest (brother), in Piedmontese*), referred to his being the baby of the family, and in later years it also referred to his short stature of 5 feet (1.5 meters).
*Piedmontese is a language spoken by some 2,000,000 people mostly in Piedmont, a region of Northwest Italy.
He officially changed his name to "Battista Pininfarina" in 1961. The change was authorized by the President of the Italian Republic, acting on a proposal made by the Minister of Justice.

    Fascinating stuff. TIL!
