After the Monza SP1 and SP2 models (2018) and the Daytona SP3 (2021), a fourth ICONA model is expected to appear in late 2024 or in early 2025 (so nearly every three years).

As the Monza models were based on the 812 Superfast, this new ICONA SP4 model could be based on the upcoming front mid-engined berlinetta (F167).
The only reason? No: 2024 will also see the arrival of the new hypercar (F250) and it's not very likely that Ferrari will compete against this with another mid-engine Icona model in the same year and nearly the same price range (although the F250 will get a V6 or V8 hybrid engine). And in addition, the latest model of the ICONA range (Daytona SP3) already has a (V12) mid-engine.

No matter what we think of these ICONA models, they bring Ferrari money, money, money. Someone here on the chat once described it as a "moving target“: So other ICONA-models could follow after the SP4.

At this moment we can only speculate about the new ICONA SP4… Will it be a Berlinetta in the style of a 250 GTO, 250 GT SWB or a 250 GT TDF? If it has a V12 engine, then maybe with very mild hybrid support (possibly like the F167)? And the name: “SP4“ is probably safe. Will there be a famous circuit in the name again before the “SP4“?

What do you think? Rumors and speculation are absolutely welcome at this early stage!;)

What Ferrari would you take or would like to see as inspiration for? Will it be named SP4 Imola?

I really hope it's more of an actual grand tourer this time around.

Not that i can afford it, I just think it'll be nice to look at.

SP4 should be the 1970s (Guessing inspired by either the V6 Dino or V12/Flat12 365 Daytona or 512BB)
SP5 should be the 1980s (Guessing inspired by either the TTV8 288 GTO or F40)

So far they have taken inspiration from the racing cars of those eras. I would imagine SP4 would be mid 1970s - early 1980s time frame racing cars.

Well given the behavior of some members, specially in the F1 section I'd say half of those were used trying to keep the peace

I too agree with this progression. My guess is Daytona since Dino was never officially a Ferrari. Also Daytona went racing and was fairly sucessful at it and there are quite a few versions of it (open headlight vs closed and the competizione version) for Manzoni to take inspiration from. Also it goes well with the front vs rear vs front progression.

    I would expect it to resemble a 512 S (M), or a BBLM if it’s a 70’s or early 80’s 12 cylinder race car.

This was my initial thinking also. I think 512S might be tricky to make enough of a departure from the SP3 to justify it though. More likely (and preferrable honestly!) to go for BB LM - love that car so much. However, due to SP12 EC they may be reluctant to re-engage a modernisation of the BB platform though.

Supposedly the F167 is going to have heavy Daytona influences - they could either use this their advantage in terms of shared design language, or it will mean they will avoid this too to differentiate from serial production models.

Maybe 70's won't be their pick.

If I had to hazard a guess I think they will go for (arguably) 2 of their most iconic cars as the basis for the next 2 Iconas.

    SP4: 250 GTO
    SP5: F40

I hope to come back to this post in a few years and hi-5 myself

I think they will go with a 70s car (I will stick with my Daytona derivative pick based on the 812 Successor) and then a 80s car (which will be either F40 or 288 GTO based - probably use the SF90 platform ex-hybridisation like they did with SP3). I have mentioned this before but I also think that they will probably do another run of Iconas in 10 years as there is too much of Iconic back catalogue from each era that was not touched (250 SWB, California, GTO etc. etc.)

But do you not think that if the F167 is already very Daytona influenced it will be difficult to justify the cost of the SP?

Absolutely love your prediction of the SF90 platform - an F40 based on the SF90 (presumably RWD and no hybrid) would be sensational!

We would need a 70s 512 inspired model or a 90s if they do one F50 / 333sp inspired for that but that would be great.

Agree. Two of the most iconic cars, period. Plus timing on the F40 is feels right as a real push in demand from incoming next gen big collectors (core Ferrari target) who have the '90s as their starting point, and want the original F40 in their collection to be driven. They're less interested in older cars. The GTO is a no brainer. Where I disagree is I would leave the GTO to last, reduce numbers and raise the price. Create a stampede among top buyers all wanting to be in the final cut. Lots more regular models as must-buys. My 2c only.

There would be no stampede... Ferrari already have there lists of Top 10, 20 , 30 and so on of VIPs. Lists such as overall VIPs, model type VIPs etc etc
They will start at the top and go down

I was led to believe if you bought a Monza you would qualify for future SP models. That was the case when the Daytona SP3 was released for sale. Monza buyers were asked if they wished to buy the SP3. I would assume if you bought the first two you are on the list for the balance of the SP’s to come. It was very difficult to be considered for a Daytona SP3 if you didn’t own a Monza, in fact I have friends with large Ferrari collections, with La Ferraris and passed on the Monza and tried to get the Daytona SP3 and still have not received an allocation even though they are making 100 more Daytonas than the 499 Monzas.
