Been interested in finding an affordable MM/TF/etc. eligible car that might be weak but interesting and honestly, I have NO IDEA where to start looking.

I'm not sure if it's a realistic request, but something in the low 1XXk range would be nice.

Am I dreaming or are such things possible?

    Wayne is spot on.
For the money, nothing is more fun than an Alfa.

If you weren't stuck on Italian, a Jag XK120 would fit the bill for either event and come in a whole lot under $100k.

An Alfa GTA would qualify for the events? Wouldn't it have to be a comp car?

I didn't realize than an XK120 would be eligible for both?

Wayne the little Guilletta looks like a wonderful car... why aren't they MM eligible?

An XK120 is a wonderful car with a killer 1.05 coefficient. The hard part is getting one accepted. I have a Mexican client who has been turned down four years in a row with a very proper rhd, alloy bodied car that has been a race car its whole life.

Same with the Giulietta Sprints and even the SVs. Just too darn hard to get an acceptance.

They turned away several Boano's, Ellenas and even a nice Europa last year. Just too many people trying for too few spots.

Remeber, more than 1/2 of the spots go to long-term repeat clients, some of whom have been attending for over tweny years.

I have been nine times and it is always a crap shoot to see if you are going to get in unless you actually have a killer car that ran the real event and can prove it!

I would sugest a micro Fiat / Siata / Lancia from the late 1930s early 1940s for any first timer looking to spend minimal money and looking for a sure acceptance.

    Just my two cents.

    Cheers,

    Bill

The GTA will only qualify for the TDF and as long as its a genuine GTA it will be eligible .

Dan, in order to be eligible, the car must have been built between 1927 and 1957. I think this would make other cars like the Giulietta Sprint and Sprint Veloce eligible, but the SZ didn't appear until 1960.

Even so, Bill is right. Qualifying is one thing, getting accepted is something entirely different.

Ok, so that begs the next obvious and stupid question: where do I start looking for these cars? Places like Symbolic / Fantasy Junction, other forums, ?
