A surprise visitor to the recent car show at Giovanni's Restaurant in Suwanee, GA was this Noble M12, a car no one recognized when it drove in. Although Lee Noble is English, his cars are assembled in South Africa, and the powerplant is a twin-turbo version of the V-6 engine from the Ford Mondeo/Contour, mounted transversely. Most mid-engined cars have at least a small trunk somewhere, but the Noble appeared to have none!

It's kinda weird. It seems like practically every noble out there is that color.

Hip though - dark metallic silver/titanium is the "hot" color right now, from Astons to F430's, everyone has a color like that (or shade ;) ).

Yeah, it's extremely popular right now, no question about it.

I'm partial to black myself, but I do see the appeal.

2337 lbs is heavy enough, no need for yet another bloated Porker on the road when there are so many other choices at the 2800-3500lb range.

That V6 is light, readily available, very cheap (with had selected Wiseco forged pistons, Scat H-beam rods, ARP 2000 bolts, 42lb Lightning injectors, lightened flywheel, iridium plugs, balanced & blueprinted, it costs $5k shipped in the US), and easily puts out 425hp and 390 lb/ft of torque with a linear power delivery and good low-rpm drivability.

It may be a Ford V-6 but it's very well matched to the car. I drove a 425 hp M400 and loved it!

Still looks like a kit car and pedestrian looking ford engine.

Anyone going this route should also consider the ultima gtr which uses the new vette engine, it's one of the fastest road car on the planet.

This is some shots of a uniquely painted Noble I saw for the first time. It has a highly tuned, 400HP + Rouch prepared motor and weighs 2080 pounds. If you do the math, that equals a sickly fast car.

I also have included several shots of an Ultima. For me, I like the big american v8 mated to the Porsche tranny (upside down, the drain plug becomes the filler) The engine compartment looks nicer. The rearward vision, has to be worse than the Noble. Then again, the only thing of concern would be the cop cars trying to catch you!

    regards

    Ken

I drove the Noble two weeks ago. If I wouldn't kill myself in it first, my license would be killed.

The limits are so far away, the speeds so high (without noticing it) and the acceleration so brutal, I was floored.

I guess this is how an Enzo feels.

So if you go to the track with a buddy, you need a roof rack or a trailer for your gear. Good grief.

Someone should do one with a turbo buick v6 from a GN/GNX. Or twin turbo. With some upgrades, of course.

where can you get an ultima? any idea how much they are?

i've seen a noble up close and was actually pretty impressed with its quality. i expected a kit car type finish and while not quite up to a typical prodution car, it wasn't too bad.

It is classified as a modular car, NOT a kit car. They are fully manufactured in South Africa and sold as normal cars in Europe. In order to avoid airbag and emission requirements in the US, they ship the car FULLY FACTORY assembled minus the engine. The engine is then installed here in the US allowing them the designation of a modular vehicle. This is not some kit you spend 3 years putting together in your garage.
