    You don't need to get up and look in the oil filler hole to see if the motor is on the correct cycle for TDC.

    Look at the 1-4 intake cam dowel pin on the belt sprocket, when it is at about 1 o'clock position, you are real close to TDC.

    Looking in the oil fill hole for the cam mark doesn't tell you TDC, either, only close. TDC is determined on the flywheel.

    This just lets you rotate the motor until the cam pin is about 1 o'clock, then start looking at the flywheel and know you are about there. No need to get up from rotating and look down the hole to see which cycle you are on.
