Hope you like them...
Wanted to drop a line and say, that I love the collection. Question: Do you have a display case that you use to display these? Reason: I just purchased a display case over the weekend, and I have 24 models in the case and 20 still in the boxes, because they won't all fit. Secondly, If you have a display case, how do you have your models arranged? I am having a very hard time with the color scheme. I have in my case 16 models in red. 4 models in yellow and 4 models in black. , and then there are the other 20 that won't fir which consist of white, silver, blue, red and burgundy. Do you think that I should buy another display case. Because I just spent $600.00 for the one in my living room. I have to admit the room looks great!
HOLY 1:18, BATMAN...!!! 600 bucks...?!? Congratulations... If color is that important to you, yes, go with how YOU want to do it, how you want it done and how you feel comfortable with it... If you're inquiring about the color schemes merely out of curiosity, then go back to the last sentence... Do it how YOU want... After all, it's YOUR house (and YOUR $600 you just dropped on a display case)...
Thanks, because it was a _ _ tch taking the cars in and out of the boxes. I will pick up a new digital camera next week and post pics. I will have to put some on the floor. The reason for asking the question about the color scheme is well.. I'll just post the pics.
Thanks for the replies... I guess my collection looks a bit more impressive than it is in reality, thanks to the mirrors in the dustfree cornershowcase... I've got exactly and no more than 23 1/18 Ferrari's in my 5 story showcase. Looks a bit more 'cause the two big mirrors in the back make a 90° corner. That way you can see every Ferrari 4 times in a different angle without having to move the cars. Very nice to look at IMO. Five cars fit on each shelf, so I can have two more (I'm looking for a black and a blue F355)... after that, I will have to look out for another case... I payed just about 350 euro's for this one. At this moment he top shelf holds my 5 F355's, my favourite models, two Spiders, a GTS, a US Challenge car and a Berlinetta. On the second are a Enzo, 250GTO, 250LM, 250 GT Calfornia Spider and 360 Spider. On the third a 360 Modena, 328 GTS, 456GT, 550 Maranello and a 348TS. On the fourth a F40, two F50's and another 328GTS (different in the pic) On the wood bottom a Testarossa, two Testa Rossa's and a 312P. They all switch positions from time to time... but I like to keep some models always together (the F355's and 250's f.e.) Furthermore I've got 8 1/24's and 12 1/39's displayed elsewhere. ONLY Ferrari's and 1 Fiat . Greets, Alexander
Alex, I have to say it again, great minds do think alike. I have my two testarossas' a 348 and a 250 GTO on my wooden bottom. I have mine in order of color preference with the 1st shelf holding 1 black 355 GTS, 1 black 328GTB, 1 black 365 GTB, and 1 black F50. The second shelf holds 1 yellow 308 GTB, 1 yellow 550 Barchetta, 1 Yellow 355 GTS, 1 Yellow 360 Modena. 3rd shelf - 1 red 288 GTO, 1 red 288 GTO Evo, 1 red F40, and 1 red 365 gt4/BB. 4th shelf 1 red 512 BB, 1 red 360 Modena, 1 red 360 Spider, and 1 red 250 Lemans. 5th shelf 1 red f50 barchetta, 1 red 575 MM, 1 red mythos, and 1 red Enzo. I will definately have to buy another case and 4 more models and this is just for the ferraris. I have another collection of muscle cars that won't see a display case probably for another year or so.
Mmm, you've got a black F355 GTS? Very nice! Is it UT or Mattel/Hotwheels? I've seen that model a few times on this site already and I like to have one too, but I think it's not available in Europe... I thought about airbrushing one myself, but I haven't got the time and skill to do that yet... Most of my models are bought in Belgium, but I also have 1/18 Ferrari's bought on trips to Italy, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Monaco... Nice memories...
Found it on E-bay for $12.00 U.S. It is a kit which is easy to assembele in about 30 minutes. I am thinking about buying another and just repainting it and ordering the badges and shields for Cavallinomodels.com. The kit is made by mattel.
Thanks for the info... Is that Mattel kit a 1/18? Metal or plastic? Good quality? I will look out for that one...
The mattel kit is both metal and plastic. Eric W. has a picture of the assembled product on his website. Paint is excellent, though the lights in the rear are a bit too small and too dark, other than that I would recommend it.
Nice collection, Alexander! I read you also bought models in the Netherlands. Was that at the NAMAC bourse in Houten? If not, I can recommend visiting it.
