Ok so I'm all about Ferrari's and Supercars but I'm not to keen on how they work. From what I've heard F1 tranny's are like the same as automatics? If not than could someone fill me in on that. Also E-gears, I know that thats the paddle shifters but how do they work? You're in park, you put the key in and press the engine start botton. Now how do you put her in first gear? Do you push the clutch then shift up twice? Once past reverse then the second to first gear or does it go right to first from park. This is the reason I would probably pick a F50 over like an 599 or F430(besides the obvious rareity and style. I'd pick a F50 over almost any Ferrari other than an Enzo ^_^). Can I get a well explained answer from a fellow F-Chatter and not be flamed please? Thanks in advance guys.

    2nd that.

    Short version:

F1 and E-gear are the same thing. The gearbox is a STANDARD MANUAL gearbox. It is not an automatic with a torque converter. There is a standard clutch in place. However, the clutch and the shift mechanisms are controlled by a computer. You pull the right paddle, the clutch disengages, solenoids place the gearbox in the next gear, the clutch re-engages. Opposite for downshifting. There is NO clutch pedal, everything is automatic.

To place the car in neutral both paddles are pulled at the same time. Then pull the right paddle to engage first gear. Pull both paddles to engage neutral, then press the R button to engage reverse.
