I recently started using left foot braking, especially for uphill starts which otherwise seems to always be accompanied with some expensive smelling burning clutch…
I just press the brake with my left foot, dial some revs with the right foot then release the brake… you feel a small jolt when the revs is just right.
Do other people use similar technique? I am also wondering whether this would work when launching the car for max 0-60 timing etc? I have never done that but it does seem a bit quicker on the traffic light race :)

Nooooooooooo, you'll burn the clutch out very very quickly.

So... should I just let the clutch do its own work?

It seems very slugish just starting uphill without any help...

A practical demostration of what your doing to your clutch is easy.....

Hire a cheap car for the day, go to the nearest deserted car park and pull the hand brake on as hard as you can......then repeatedly try driving off in 1st........repeat for half an hour and you'll have burnt the clutch out :D

    *wallet safety warning*

only use somebody elses cheap car for this test....not your own Ferrari ;) (unless you want to bring it up to me to change the clutch every 5-10k miles)

OK I undrstand what you are saying but I am not revving the engine for long before releasing the clutch.

What I do is rev to the point it catches, then release the brake... much in the same way you would do with the handbrake on hill start...

It seems that I am getting less slip and burning clutch smell like that...??? Well, If I am wrong I guess I will see you earlier then expected :)

I thought the F1 system was intelligent enough to have the clutch disengaged when the brake was on and there was no motion in the wheels, despite the RPM.

HA HA HA problems, problems. SMG has both Launch Control and UpHill Control. Problem solved - just change your car!

Perhaps I should have said, only real drivers with real license driving real cars, as opposed to imaginery, need apply.

Anyway, I have checked the Manual and could only find something like 'Do not rev the engine when starting' so I guess I should not be doing it. But I am still curious, there must be some way of dialing some revs before letting the clutch go?
I was cetain I saw something in the manual regarding this but could not find it again today.

What happens if you stick it in neutral, hold the brake down (left foot) then engage first and release brake as you accelerate (acceleraion very slightly delayed obviously)...just a thought...
