Ash, As a 9 year veteran of on line selling, unfortuntely I would have to agree with the vendor. For an item of reasonable worth, it's better to ask politely and always sign off with your full name and mobile number, it's just common courtesy. I have found that selling anything from about $500 upwards, questions worded without at least a sign off name have never, ever, ever been the high bidder or buyer. Regards, Carl.
yeah thats true carl, gotta agree with you and scuddy. however to avoid alienating a potentially serious (albeit comical) buyer, i would always be reasonably civil in return... that said, what a useless exercise it was putting those thumbnail pics up, take some decent photos! ps carl: you rude, unsociable individual.
it was actually a request to assist *him* in his sale by putting up decent pics, not some waste of time question about some random detail to pretend i'm buying it. i don't really care, i just posted it here as there may be others here who are interested in the car and who they're dealing with. edit: my name/login id and email are included with the question. if i was interested in buying the car i would have just called, just like the two cars i bought in the last 4 weeks.
Hi Ash, No, it wasn't, you asked him about the size of the pics, you never mentioned anyhting about the offer. That was your intention, but he didn't know that, how could he? I bet if you write back nicely, he'd be really happy to hear from you and your offer. Send this back to him and see the reply: Hi (Add name) No sorry, I'm not a time waster and I didn't mean to come across that way, I was going to help you with an offer to tidy up your pics. I'm a local ferrari enthusiast and skilled in photoshop. You can have a look at some of my efforts at www.whatever. Feel free to contact me if you would like to take it further. Regards Ash. 041 XXXXXXXX Regards, Carl. PS. Also note in the listing, he does request people call him for any further info so maybe he was pissed off about receiving an email in the first place???
nah couldn't be bothered, i'm sure the penny will drop when the next ten people ask for the same thing. i guess it's just like looking at tiny ads in the trading post. will be interesting to see what it goes for. if it really is in "great condition" then someone could get a nice bargain.
