    Thank you very much.
For the records the pic comes from the 1958 movie "Les temps des oeufs durs" directed by Carbonnaux.

Thank you for sharing this photo of the 1955 Maserati A6GCS/53 Frua Spider s/n 2109. You can find my documentation of 2109 here:
    www.pietro-frua.de/1953_maserati.htm#2109

Your photo is new to me, though there is another one with Gronchi from a different angle (see my website). What is the original source of your photo?

    Walter,
let me add that not only the Frua Spider #2030 but also Frua Spider #2017 (the "waitress car") had in 1962 an Chevy-V8 and a modified rear. See my documentation of the A6G Frua Spiders here:
    http://www.pietro-frua.de/1950_maserati.htm

So, 2017 and 2030 are both candidates for the R&T add which you found.

Of course #2030 ist the "better" candidate as the add mentions the year 1952 which is true for #2030 but not for #2017 (1951).

Oops, #2017 is no four-seater and has no backseat. Please excuse my error.

Also presented by Factory race driver Jean Behra on May 11 1955 during the reopening festivities of the Autodromo di Monza.

Another photo shows the car beside the A6G-2000 Allemano one-off #2111.

Then a photo of the car with Maserati race lady Maria Theresa de Filippis at a Concour d`Elegance in Italy in 1955 (location unknown).

The movie "Cronaca di un Amore" by Michelangelo Antonioni in 1950 shows a longer thot of an A6G-1500 that is trst driven by one of the main characters in the film.

Unfortunately the registration plate of the car is never clearly seen or cropped by the camera frame.

Any ideas which VIN it could be?

Unfortunately no. The most distinctive feature is the chrome strip low on the sides and doors, but I have no other photos of any car showing this. The front bumper is also unusually straight, but I can't ascribe that to any specific car. The absence of a hood scoop eliminates some possibilities. My additional photos are not clear enough to see the registration.

Why don't you rent the movie, Walter ? ;)

The grey car is interesting but this color leaves the door white open for the VIN as 6 or 7 cars were painted in that color.

    Interesting photo, thank you Boudewijn.

In early 1950 there was a slow period in the A6 1500 delivery schedule. After that, for deliveries from s/n #091 onward, the hood scoop appears on every car that I know, whereas it was not present on earlier s/n.

I doubt that the light-colored car is grigio, as that was typically a darker shade. The only car recorded as grigia chiara, s/n 108, was delivered on 31 March 1951, so possible. Alternatively it could be verde pisello, s/n 98 or 100, or giallo, s/n 096.

The particularly interesting aspect of this photo to me is the suggestion that later cars were delivered from the factory with front signal lights instead of trafficators, although the styles of the lights on the two cars appear to differ.

The front bumpers are also quite plain, in contrast to the more sculpted bumper and body-color 'plinth' on earlier cars.

Ok, agreed. Grey would be a little darker. I would opt for an (ivory-) white. But no yellow! Yellow comes almost as a hard white with old b&w-images and in particular when the light comes from that angle (as always in cloudy conditions) as on this photo.

    Ciao!
