I just returned from the Desert Classic concours in Palm Springs. Maserati was featured and there were a number of great examples at the show. Highlights were the A6G 2000s, A6 1500 GT, and the great collection of highly original cars Driven over from the Riverside International Automotive Museum. They brought the MC12, Quattroporte, Bora, Mexico, Khamsin, Mistrale spyder, Indy and the A6G2000. The black 3500 was unrestored as well. The 1956 A6G Zagato s/n 2155 won the class. The 1956 A6G Allemano s/n 2125 placed 2nd and the A6 1500 GT *086* came third.

Walter if you don't agree with the 1st / 2nd / 3rd order you're going to have to tell me because I was one of the two judges (first time out) for the Maserati class.

#2125 is the car that was sold last year in the hyped "Eccelstone"-auction by RM in London. The current owner just sorted out mechanical problems of the car. Thanks for sharing those photos! Do you know the VIN of the Mistral-Spyder and the 3500 GT?

    Ciao!

The Allemano car did participate in the tour on Friday but a few people said it appeared to still have a few minor mechanical problems. Also some thought the price paid for the car was too high but I disagree. It is a phenomenal car.

I didn't get the s/n of the Mistral or the 3500 but actually they are both from the collection at http://riversideinternationalraceway.com/index.html

I have other photos but just different ones of the same cars.

Walter, that is the serial number of Bill Noon's A6 1500. I was talking about the A6G with Pininfarina body.

    Boudewijn,
OK, but both cars are A6G`s and both have Pininfarina-bodies!

About the other PF: I have no idea to be honest! I never saw this car. It seems to me that the front-grill is non original or was non correctly restored.

    Ciao!

    Johnei,
if you come across such a car - please ask the owner to open the front bonnet and take a photo of the chassisnumber-plate. Thats common practice with the Ferrari-fraction if an unknown car appears. Thanks for sharing those nice photos! Good work.

    Ciao!

    Walter,
The car is owned by Doug Magnon. This photo is from last year's Maserati Owners National Meet & Historic Reunion.

The car is #2014. It was bought by Mr. von Schoenfeld little later who raced it in the CA-region. It was later equpped with a Ford V8-motor! Thanks for posting the photo!

Oh yes, I understand that only 9 of them were produced with minor differences. Nice to see #2022 today. Thank you Walter...

I turned up a result for the Sebring 1953 race http://www.classicscars.com/wspr/results/wscc/ms1953.html that shows von Schoenfeld running a Maserati A6GCS. Since the race is in March and the photo of the car was taken at the SF auto show in November, could he have already purchased the car? Or is it a different car?

    Johnei,
the car was the only one "monofaro"-A6GCS at that time in the US. It was also serviced by Rezzaghi`s mechanics. A while ago I was in contact with v. Schoenfelds grandson (unfortunately I lost this contact to him!) who told me that files of the car still existing with his grandmother. It seems that Rezzaghi used the car appearently for exhibitions and finally sold it to someine from the LA-area.

    Ciao!
    Walter
