After I received my car I quickly got annoyed with the brakes squealing very high on the slightest touch on the pedal. The car has Fiorano Handling Package.
I had read from beforehand that the Pagid RS 4-4 pads from the FHP can squeak, and also heard it when test driving the car. I didn’t know though that it will become such an annoyance.

I went to a workshop here and asked them to look at it.

He dismantled the brakes, cleaned and lubricated the calipers. He did the same to the handbrake.

He also put some ‘soundproofing plates’ on the back of the break pads as seen below. That helped. Now the car is very quiet when braking. And only very little can be heard some times, if anything.
I am very satisfied with that.

Although cleaning the handbrake didn’t help on a slightly pulsating-howling squeaking sound from the right rear wheel.
But I will have them look at it again. Any input are appreciated.

My 575 FHP with the Pagid Orange pads sounded like a garbage truck when slowing down for a stop. At the first brake service, the dealer changed to a different pad and the squeal went away....I miss the garbage truck sound; to each his own, I guess.

FHP was supposed to be the performance version of the 550/575. It tells you in the docs what pads are used and that they are a more racy pad. Racy pads squeal because of the pad compound. You can experiment with less aggressive pads and the noise will go away and you will not notice lack of performance at street speeds. It is amazing the lengths manufacturers will go to reduce NHV felt and heard by the driver. Every car is a bag of compromises that we can change if we understand the compromise made. What the mechanic did will likely not work for long. The pad will squeal because it is it's nature to squeal compromising noise for friction coefficient.

Yes. He told me changing the pads is the next thing to do, if it persists. But I want to keep the race pads so I can track the car and use it in the alps on twisty roads.

Oh I see. I had hoped it will last. I definitely get your point, but it’s just very loud squealing. It turned heads in an embarrassing way.

My thinking was I have a 575M with FHP, I could care less was other people think...I enjoyed the looks people gave a sexy Red Ferrari that sounded like a dump truck!!

My FHP brakes only squealed rarely when she had 15,000 miles on the pads and they were well bedded. I remember smiling at that rare squeal, and thinking, yup, FHP pads still there.

you’ve been lucky buddy. It’s illegal to do the procedure suggested by Ferrari here in Denmark. I can’t imagine how people did it. Rented a race track or something.

They are currently sitting in cabinets in the garage gathering dust. Have not squealed for years.

Note only the front brakes squeal. Had ceramics on front and FHPs on the rears for several years and never heard a squeal.

Ferrari recommended an aggressive bedding procedure that helped quite a bit but was still imperfect.
The usual alternative was switching to a different compound.

People had good results with the Porterfield r4-s. I still have a NOS set of those pads in a box in the garage I need to pull out and get rid of.
