I was browsing in B&N last week and stumbled on
A Speeder's guide to avoiding tickets
The essential Manual for life in the fast lane
by Sgt. James M. Eagan, NYSP(ret.)

    $10 copyright 1990 p.142

A little old, granted. But a nice read. It does deal with instant-on radar, but not laser.
This is not a technical treatise on radar or the court system or such.
This trooper reviews the attitude of troopers, the attitude of speeders, that you WILL get caught and how best to avoid it. He also offers advice on what to do, what to say, what not to say, when to plan for speeding trips and how to blend-in (which, needless to say, is impossible with a red Ferrari or Yellow Lambo)

Most of the book is common sense, except according to the sargent most folks abandon that and talk themselves into a ticket.

So, it's an easy read. Hopefully I'll never need to employ his techniques, but his strongest message is "Be prepared" and this book at least gets you to planning.

One thing for sure, do not leave a copy of the book lying on your passenger's seat when you get pulled over.

The attitude thing works within reasonable limits~ however, I suspect if you get pulled over in the triple digits, you could be Mother Teresa and you are still going to get owned.

Funny you should mention that....there's a story about a "nun" who was stopped multiple times by different officers. A bible on the back seat, a habbit on the front, full nun regalia on.

It turns out the officers shared some stories about this very attractive "nun" &, 2+2 =
a saleswoman who had a penchant for speeding. At her next stop she said she never said she was a nun, the officers simply drew the wrong conclusion.
When she lost her license due to speeding violations a year earlier, she took to dressing as a nun which would always get her off, and change back into street clothes upon arriving at her sales destination & change into a nun for the return trip home.

oh, on the last stop, she got the ticket.

My wifes cousin is a cop & he loves my car . So , its easy from there . I have a get out of anything free pass when he rides with me . He even checks where the others are , where speed traps are etc ..We go nuts ! He gets scared cause usually he's the one doing the speeding in the police car . The passenger seat doesnt sit well with him .
I know he's gonna buy one . Its hilarious !!

I am sure your brother-in-law appreciates the fact that you let the world know that its ok for you to break the law and get away with it because you have a friend on the job.
