I have a 1979 UK GT4,the board has two rows of relays under the dash.
The second relay from left bottom row has a 006 relay which appears to have been soldered in,I can see solder on the prongs when I try to prise it out or has there been a meltdown?
The white wire behind shows signs of heat!
Anyone with the same model, can you advise and also identify which relays are operating what?
My board has 5 relays in the top row and 6 in the bottom row.
Second from the right in the top is a 006 which I can't figure what it controls and the second and third from the left in the bottom row,006 and 113 respectively. The other 8 relays,I know what they control.
    Thanks Geoff

According the 76 AUS RHD Series 2 owners manual,it shows 6 relays on top,5 on the bottom.
Relays on top are as follows (from left to right)..
    1- Relay for engine starting
2- Relay for radiator left fan
3- Relay for radiator right fan
4- Relay for radiator right fan operating air conditioner
    5- Relay for window motors
    6- Relay for horn

Relays on the bottom are as follows (left to right)
    1- Relay for external lights
    2- Relay for main beam
3- Relay for headlamps lifting motor
4- Relay for LH headlamp lifting motor
5- Relay for RH headlamp lifting motor
There is also one more relay which is located on a third row
    Relay for brakes warning light.

Under the fuses there is another relay which is for the emergency flashing lights.

    Hope this helps..

My top row is your 2 to 5,1 appears to never have been fitted!
Bottom row seems to indicate that my second position is your first pos.i.e.external lights, which is an 006 and locked in intentional or otherwise?

Geoff that was my ex GT4 so that info was from my copy of the owners manual that l had stored in my comp..
The aussie cars came with twin distributors and standard points ignition..

Can you just remove the relays one by one and test the circuit they are suppose to serve?

This fist pdf is from the GT4 Workshop manual reprint. It shows the fuse box and relay box. In the drawing there are 6top, 5bottom, with the hazard/flash relay seemingly in its own row.

The first drawing is clearly left hand drive... perhaps the board is flipped over on the rhd version?

The second pdf is from the 1979 parts catalog, and shows two rows of 6 relays. This gives Bosch numbers as well, but not all the relays are designated as to function. In the '79 catalog there are different pages for different markets wrt distributors and ignition, but nothing different for this wiring section.

My copy of the wiring diagram has no key and shows diagrammatic placement, not actual physical placement. You may find the answers you need in Paul's 308 wiring diagrams - they are excellent.

I don't know how to make the pdfs display in the text, but you should be able to click on them to open them. They are only 2 pages each, not the entire manuals.

Maurice,I have done exactly that and as indicated above there are three which do not respond as anticipated,no. 2 in the bottome row is locked in?
So far no.3 bottom and no.4 in the top row are unknown,no.4 top is supposed to be windows but when pulled doesn't stop the windows winding!

    Jonathan,Thanks my relays are so,
    Top row 1left rad fan,2 right rad fan,3 AC fan,4 don't know,5 horn.
    Bottom row 1 external lights,2 locked in don't know,3 don't know,4,5 and 6 are the headlight lifters.
When I say don't know I mean that when I pull them nothing changes!
The second position bottom row should be main beam, can you pull that relay to check for me?

Curious if you pulled the unknowns while engine was running. You don't mention a fuel pump relay or perhaps some warm up function, seat belt buzzer, A/C etc.

Rob,I have no relay indicated for the fuel pump,a fuse yes, seat buzzer is US only I think.
Not game to pull relays with engine running!
I am guessing that the stuck relay is main beam,no.3 bottom is still unknown and no.2 from right top is windows but I suspect that someone has altered the wiring so that windows wind before ignition!

There might be a flashing relay as in flash to pass if you have flashers?
