We are just finishing this engine for a client's 70's vintage 911 RS "recreation" project. Thought you guys would appreciate a look at what $35K gets you in the Porsche world when it comes to no a expense spared "old school" engine.

We started with a complete, but blown, 3.2 Carrera engine which was acquired for $4k. Basically all we needed was good case halfs, a good crank, and rebuildable cylinder heads.

Redo the entire engine from inside out......add one set of 3.5 Mahle P+C's......Porsche RSR 3.8 race cams.......Carrillo rods.......PMO fuel injection.......redo the heads and entire valvetrain with trick race bits to spin at 7,500, balance the entire assembly to a zero gram tolerance......port match everything......add SSI headers and an MK sport exhaust....no cats.....and use one aftermarket engine management computer.

Voila.....roughly $35K of parts and labor.....and roughly 330-350 HP.......we wll be finished next week. And hopefully driving the project in another 4 weeks.

    Yah gotta love stacks.

Very impressive! 350hp is a great number, it'll make that old 911 one wild machine. If you have any other engine builds post em up, I'm a big fan of "motor porn" :)

Since you obviously know Porsches, I have a 1969 912 with an engine of unknown condition. (Towed it home, covered it up....) If one is going to go to the trouble of pulling a 912 engine, which is a 4 cylinder,.......will a 6 cylinder of the 911 variety bolt back in place of the 4 cylinder???

    Arlie....

It is not cost effective.......sell the 912 for $5-10K and move on.

    Tim....

Thanks....wait until you see the whole project....I have a thread on it at Rennlist in the 911 section.

my buddy recently finished his 3 yr. rs build. it has everything!!!!!!!!! there was simply no expense spared and the parts selection and detail work cannot be seen or done justice in the picture. all of the work was done my a master fabricator from a well known nascar team...you know the lovely work they turn out.

    sadly he may sell...

    Nice car Pete......!!!

My client will have $80K in this car when done.......and we've used the very, very, best of everything.....and are paying strong attention to detail as well. Beats paying $250K for the real thing. The best thing is that I've got 2 guys now who've seen it and may want me to build a couple more.........

let me know if your clients are looking for a turn key car...the pictured above is for sale. also a $80k + (maybe more like $100k) type a car. i will send you a detailed equipment list and 100 plus photos if you have an interested party.

the car is not duplicable and the detail of the roll bar, the interior, the boot, engine bay, under carriage, parts selected...just so over the top!
