With 6 races completed out of a total of 18, we have finished the first third of the season. Time for a report card...

    - Who are your Top 5 drivers with brief reasons if possible?
    - Who is this season's best surprise?
    - Who is this season's biggest disappointment?
    - Which was your favorite race of the season so far?
    - Which was the dullest race of the season so far?
    - Who is likely to clinch the championship (car and driver)?

    Thanks for participating

    - Who are your Top 5 drivers with brief reasons if possible?
    1. Fernando Alonso: He is showing master class this season - winning with considerable ease even though the Renault car advantage was not as pronounced as last year. Has demonstrated that he can take pressure and use it derive a better performance from himself as demonstrated in Spain where his driving was peerless. Has made Fisichella look extremely ordinary.

    2. Michael Schumacher: Has shown his true class- lots of dedication, raw speed, tactical ability. He shows little if any signs of ageing or slowing down. Hopefully he will be able to close the gap to Fernando

    3. Jacques Villenueve: Some of you might laugh at placing JV so high. Let me get one thing clear - I am not a JV fan - I used to basically think of him as a sullen has-been. But this year, we are seeing JV at perhaps his best in a long, long time. He has been performing pretty consistently during the races and pretty good at qualifying. He has tamed Heidfeld over the last few races. Great to see him doing so well.

    4. Jenson Button: Has shown great qualifying speed and has been pretty good in race trim as well. Has demonstrated only one weakness - poor performance on re-starts. He has passed too many times under this circs - he needs to warm up his tires more aggressively as Alonso does. Has made 'chello look like his sell-by-date is fast approaching

    5. Kimi Raikkonnen: To me he seems a defeated man. He was his old superfast self at the beginning of the season with a storming drive to third in Bahrain but since then apart from a podium, he has never looked threatening in a race. Perhaps, years of driving pathetic cars has finally sucked the enthusiasm out of the poor man. I am very sure he has given up on McLaren and is looking to Renault or Ferrari for next season to drive a winning car.

    - Who is this season's best surprise?
Jacques Villenueve to me. Rosberg was a definite contender but apart from Bahrain he hasnt really shined. To Rosberg's credit, the need to conserve the Cossie lump has meant that he gets minimal familiarization time on the circuit which must be really affecting him.

    - Who is this season's biggest disappointment?
I was debating between Montoya and Fisi here. In the end I would say Montoya whose career is on a flame-out right now. His erstwhile speed is no longer there. He has been making a lot of stupid driving errors. He can't seem to make a bad car look better like Kimi. I think his career will be over pretty soon.

    - Which was your favorite race of the season so far?
Imola - great dice between Mikey and Alonso just like last year. Bahrain was a great race too.

    - Which was the dullest race of the season so far?
Spain ... What a bore .... the only good thing to see was Alonso's sheer speed that was enhanced by racing in front of his home crowd.

    - Who is likely to clinch the championship (car and driver)?
    Alonso and Renault.

    1. Who are your Top 5 drivers with brief reasons if possible?

-Michael Schumacher - He is supposed to be old....but he isn't.
-Fernando Alonso - He is supposed to be young....but he isn't.
-Jacques Villeneuve - He is supposed to be slow...but he isn't (ask Fisichella).
-Nico Rosberg - He is supposed to be green...but he isn't.
-Yuji Ide (now departed) - He was supposed to be rubbish...and he was!

    2. Who is this season's best surprise?
Mclaren aren't doing as well as expected. With last years results I expected fiery competition. But each race seems to set them back further.

    3. Who is this season's biggest disappointment?
Jenson Button is still not quite there. So close, yet too far....

    4. Which was your favorite race of the season so far?
    Imola! Wicked.

    5. Which was the dullest race of the season so far?
Barcelona. I was depressed after the race.

    6. Who is likely to clinch the championship (car and driver)?
Takuma Sato with Super Aguri. (this one is too obvious)

    1) MS - the way he and ferrari bounced back after a dissapointing season, is something special. it takes a lot of courage and motivation to be where he is now, given his age, experience and 7 world titles.

    2) FA - honestly, between MS and FA, it's pretty much close. FA is a complete driver, like MS, he can drive at any circuit, any conditions. aussie was an example. so far, he only made 2-3 mistakes i can think of, in imola where he nearly took himself out of the track a few times. but hands down, he's the best there after schumi. ( i can bet andreas will be grinning seeing me writing this )

    3) nico - given his age and experience, and give him the equipment, i think he can surpise more people.

    4) JV - not easy for someone who is always critised like JV to do what he's doing now. he lets his driving do his talking.

    5) massa - a bit raw, but it's a good thing he can keep up with th GrandMaster so far at this point. not easy waking up each day knowing only a year contract there is, being the teammate of the most successfull driver, and with all that rossi nonsence pressure isn;t going to help. but he's hangin there...

best surprise - JV or maybe even JPM. imo, he's more motivated and workin his @$$ out more than kimi. signs of a kimi-ferrari deal is already in the bag.

biggest dissapointment - a few in fact. rubens, jenson, and fisi. rubens, with all that fire he had when he left ferrari has died down. jenson? i think he's just overrated. his start always sux. fisi? given the fact that he knows that he's under fire, he's still not there yet. a huge silly error in barca.

fav. race - imola. just superb. schumi at his best. nurburgring was good too. the ferrari strategy was briliant the way they bluffed renault.

    dullest race - barca.

    champions - MS and ferrari.

His F1 career may be over, but he will be back in IRL or Champ Cars, just as soon as they can find someone better or some $$$ to replace him.

Andreas- I thought Boutsen drove an Arrows ? lol
