The top collectors of Ferrari are always changing. Great collectors that were once dominant are sadly no longer here. Bardinon. Violati. Most of you know some collectors because they are in the Media. Ralph Lauren, Bruce Meyer, Nick Mason & Chip Connor. Now Stroll because of the 275 NART (although he was a well known collector before this purchase). Others are only to be found in specialist car journals (e.g Cavallino). Like Sydorick, McCoy, Zambrano and Kalikow. Some collectors have been around for ever. Bamford, Brandon Wang, Robert Lee, Peter Sachs. Are those collections in-tact? Or are they selling slowly? And Dusek? Dupont? Christopher Cox? Giorgio Perfetti? The McCaw brothers?

What about relative newer players like Wexner? Or other collectors like Rob Walton, Greg Whitten, Lee Herrington, Michael Kadoorie? Pisker, Keller, Carlos Hank, JP Slavic, Art Zafiropoulo, Jim Patterson, Clive Beecham. What are they doing with their cars?

Most collectors want to maintain a low profile which is understandable. But in an age where Barchetta and other blogs pick up information instantly, it is harder to remain completely anonymous. Some owners are so reclusive it is hard to find anything about their collections. Others are more talkative or attend events like Pebble Beach, Villa D'Este and the Mille Miglia so information can be slowly pieced together.

According to one of the leading Ferrari historians in the world (who is an honorary member of this Forum) there are today 100 top Ferrari collectors in the world. All of them have impressive collections. Some have 50+ Ferraris, others only have 3. But what is a better collection? A collection of 20 Ferraris which are standard collector stuff (250 Lusso, 250 Cab, 275 GTB, 365 GTB). Or a collection of three cars like Clive Beecham who owns 250 SWB ex Moss, a 275 GTB/4 NART Spyder and a fine 166 Barchetta? That is open to debate.

One collector who has been around for a long long time kindly agreed to an interview. His initials are PK and his license plates often read PK1, PK2. Many of you know these initials well. He is an old fox in the Ferrari world and owns an impressive collection of over 40 cars. In a world where everything changes hands very quickly, when he buys- he keeps. He NEVER sells. Irrespective of where prices are heading. Clearly a man of the old school. A man of character. I hope you enjoy this interview.

Very interesting interview. Thank you for sharing. Wonder if he ever tried to find that xkss again. Interesting view on the GTO as well. Shows you he knows what he likes.

Yes PK clearly knows what he likes and does not like. I like and respect his opinion on the GTO. The GTO is clearly not everyones taste and that has nothing to do with the price tag ;)
