I was watching TV in the living room today when I heard a loud crack & glanced over to the window in time to see a tree fall in my front yard! Went out to find my Bradford Pear had lost a limb which almost completely coved my Miata. The RX-7 took a hit too. I almost puked. Called a tree removal company from the yellow pages that sent someone right over w/ chain saw. Miraculously the Miata just got scraped up. Just lucky it wasn't the Ferrari & I wasn't washing it!
Youever have an act of God take out your car?

You mean your camera actually works near your cars after all? Who-da thunk it? :)

Looks like a nice color match at least... artsy too! :):):)

Venus1,

Sorry to hear about the tree falling.

BTW, is the car under the car cover your 240Z with a V8 under the hood?
If you take the camera outside again, a few pics of the Z would be interesting.

You know what would be MORE interesting? A quick shot of the 328 in her garage.

(not gonna happen......)

It's a black one, isn't it?
I think she posted pics of it a long time ago, no?
I think I've seen a pic of it somewhere.

You don't see it? The color of the tree is very close to the color of the car plus it's nicely framed.

Good shot. How did you set up the camera... aperture, shutter speed? Was that with your Nikon?

Yes, it is the 240Z under the cover. These are the best pix I've ever taken of it -right after I had the body design work completed.

Nikon D70 w/ aperture priority auto setting. F probably 5.6 & shutter really fast due to bright sun. No art need here - just point & shoot type opperation. I didn't even bracket as these shots are just for Allstate. Plus I was feeling fear for my Miata: 1996 w/ Jackson Racing supercharger, lots of other mods & < 60,000 miles. Blue book for total wouln't come close to my investments.

Trees scare me! At the 'big house' (That I am now renting out), I had two incidents and I was there for both and both scared the daylights out of me! Only a few months apart, one was a 40-foot oak tree in which one of the main branches broke. The crazy thing was that I had a tree guy out the week prior who thinned it out and was walking out on the 12-14" limb that broke off. The other was another oak, about 30 inches wide at the base that snapped off about six feet from it's base. It was a 'leaner' and like the other limb that went, looked very healthy!

I have healthy respect for trees because you never know when they are going to 'go'. I hope your total damage is not that bad and your insurance will get them back to new!

Sorry to hear this (from a Miata owner to another). Could have been worse (bodywork damage or your Ferrari/you under the tree) :(

My friend Rodger has had 3 cars destroyed by trees in his drive. Last week his Lexus was crushed. Tress also killed his MG and his Miata.

As TC said, I keep the 328 mostly at Andy Greene Sports & Vintage Race Cars. In addition to being a certified Ferrari mechanic, he has a huge warehouse sized facility he stores exotics in. My Ferrari is probably the least expensive ride in there. They maintain the battery charge, etc & the location is high & dry during hurricane season (basically 6 months of the year) unlike my home.

This is the 2nd or 3rd FChatter to verify her 328. Testimony from thecarreaper finalizes that she has one. It's just camera shy or she's hardheaded. :) ..wonder why. :D

Beyond that, an Act of God took out my car...although I am not sure which act of God took out my car: Exodus 20:2–17, Deuteronomy 5:6–21, or Exodus 34:11–27. All list various ways that the ten Commandments shall not be broke, oddly enough all ten commandments number no less than 12 commandments to 27 commandments, depending upon the verse and chapter. Either God cannot count or Moses had a hearing problem. Either way, I have problems with a supreme being that cannot count or one that picks a deaf, addle-minded old man to be his primary spokesperson.

Anyway, a high wind blew the largest spruce in my yard exactly parallel to and 5 feet from my aunt's utterly beloved fishing boat. Well, that's not true, it wasn't a high wind. If it was a high wind, then that wind would have blown no less than 10,000 AGL. So it was a low, fast and angry wind that blew down 10,000 pounds of wood neatly parallel to my aunt's boat. Act of god? Not mine, I'm an atheist. Act of god on my aunt's part? No, she's mormon.

Random dumb luck? Where do I send the tithing check to that cause? :D

Korr:
By "act of God" I mean nature. Isn't that the same thing? I thank God everyday for having lightening strike my 36” Sony TV a year ago. I now vegetate in front of a Sony 60 inched HD model complements of Allstate. Got a new computer from the same strike. They paid for the $200.00 surge protector too.

Yesterday I actually began to feel blessed when my Miata was uncovered virtually unscathed. It was near a miracle as the metal on a Miata is thin like a tin can. And there she stood, perfect as ever dug out from certain doom. Call it fate, karma, luck, I think God knows how much I love my Miata & that I’m saving up for a new central AC unit.

You can always test out a central a/c unit in a car first. :)

I'm surprised that Bartlett Pear got that big before splitting apart. Promoted as a fast growing flowering ornamental they are now rarely even sold. They just split to pieces. Better move those other cars.
