They're all going to be called "A1 Grand Prix of Nations"? No "Bridgestone Presents the Goody's Headache Powder Sheetrock Grand Prix of Laguna Seca at Mazda Raceway Powered By Ford"?
Why all the hype? Seriously, I don't understand why people are excited about yet another spec-car series? Is it just because they put "1GP" in the name?
I think it has to due with the fact that it's nation against nation. I think that's what is so appealing about it. Hopefully they'll be some good racing and passing. Also the series takes place in the off season to F1, so I think most of the people who watch F1 will watch A1GP. The Sheik has done an amazing job with the series and it was a brilliant idea to have it in the off-season as to not compete with F1.
I believe a DFW local driver will be entered in the series; Nur B. Ali who used to race in the Southwest FMazda series may have an effort going. Nice guy and very competitive.
Because up and comers from all Nations will be running head to head in a global series, with REAL racing as opposed to the BS that F1 has become. I'm fortunate that the race series I am joining will be a support race to the Aussie round.
I hope SpeedTV picks it up, so I don't have to watch 45,000 hours of Barrett-Jackson again this winter. I also need something besides the Australian V8 Supercars to watch (thats what calms the winter jitters for me.)
