I received a AAA membership offer today in the mail. It states "free towing to any AAA approved location" which does not say much. Since most 1-800 numbers are sales associates that will tell you anything to get a sale, has any FC member had any experiences with a road side break down in their Ferrari? I am wondering whether they would tow the car to the Ferrari dealership (200 miles from where I live) or to just the nearest garage to get it off the road? Any responses would be appreciated.

AAA classic is 7 miles, but you can get the next level up of service which is Plus for 100 miles and Premier which will do 100 miles + one tow at 200 miles. AAA will tow to your house, shop or your choice if it is within your service mileage. I used my membership to get a fellow Ferrari owner a flatbed.

I have AAA Premier. Needed it last year to town my 348 to my house when the throwout bearing decided to blow it's ass out. AAA is a must in my book, and well worth the annual membership price.

They towed my 328 last month from my friends house to mine when it wouldn't start. only stipulation was they only tow 75 miles. AAA plus RV membership.

Unfortunately I've had the same experience. While I have the Premiere Package, I opted to have the car towed to my house. But they would have towed it anywhere I wanted within the 200 mile range. The tow truck driver babied my F355 like it was his own. We ended up having to put it on the flatbed backwards. He took just as much time and care taking it off in my driveway. Nothing but good stuff to say about my experiences with AAA.

    I have the AAA+
    • Towing – Passenger up to 100 miles Vehicles*
    • Battery Assist Service
    • Flat Tire Service
    • Extrication Service
    • Specialized Towing Equipment No charge if required
    • Alternative Service Reimbursement
    • Trip Accident Assistance $300 maximum
    • Emergency Gasoline

    The down sides:
    1) Make sure you specify a flat-bed with cloth tie-downs. You dont want a plain truck showing up
    2) You may wait at the side of the road while they track down a flat-bed. It can take a while. I've waited up to 3 hours in the freezing cold.
    3) The Truck operator may not want to take you 100 miles. They really like short trips and I've had one show up, wasn't told I wanted a 50 mile tow, and left me standing there.

My preference is call a truck myself, then send the bill in to AAA.

The other thing that is cool about premier is, if you are stuck more than 50 miles from your house they'll put you up in a hotel for the night, and even get you a rental car if needed.

A few years ago I needed to use the locksmith service as one of my kids locked my key in the vehicle on CHRISTMAS. They came out immediately, and I had my keys within 1 minute. That guy was ridiculous fast opening the door.

AAA Premier is the way to go.

Seriously? I've been towed a dozen times by AAA since I've gotten my license and every time was with a flatbed and within 45 mins. I didn't even know we had the option of towing ourselves and billing AAA.
