AARP Roadside assistance is advertised on this site. Anyone join, anyone have any experience. How does it compare to AAA. Thanks.

No, no, no. That's not it.

AARP assistance is the one you can call and have them remind you where you parked.

As with Medicare supplements , cell phone service, etc. AARP simply sells their name to the highest bidder. Good idea to see who provides roadside service this time.

I will check out AARP. I am a member, but it may be just another roadside assistance provider that paid them to use the name, as has been said.

In my experience Hagerty is best, State Farm is next, AAA is dead last and pretty useless when I needed them.

Take a close look at what they really offer.

For example, my basic AAA plan only included towing for 5 miles, at $10 per mile after that. State Farm is "to the nearest appropriate repair facility, plus 10 miles." But State farm towed my F-150 with a front/bumper lift F-350! Hagerty is 50 miles by flat bed and staffed by operators who seem to appreciate the value of our cars and the emotional attachment we have to them. They really seem to care that the car is well taken care of.

I had to leave my Jag in a parking lot out of town overnight because AAA wouldn't tow it where it needed to go (about 30 miles away) without charging me an extra $250+. They also couldn't get a tire changer or locksmith to a major airport for 2 hours!

Read the fine print and choose carefully.

I have State Farm, $48 per year, on my DD's and Hagerty on my classics. The hagerty coverage is included in my insurance premium, not sure what the separate cost is for that.
