AAV bad!

I did all the tests recommended in the earlier threads, and low and behold, the AAV is bad.

It was going from half closed to about 1/4 closed only. I sprayed some lube inside and was able to work it free and now it is going from half closed to 3/4 closed, but that is the best I can do. I imagine the spring was damaged from being stuck for a long time and now it wont fully close it.

So to sum up, it is never fully opened or fully closed, so I guess I need a new one, or a good used one.

Anyone know where to find them, or what I should pay?

What the heck is an AAV? Can't stand these cryptic posts. Never assume everybody knows what you're talking about, especially if it involves an acronym..

You know there are plenty of decaffinated brands out on the market now.... Auxilary Air Valve.... AAV.

Yes, I wondered what that was also. Well, now I know. I end up looking in the "Texting dictionary" for far too many things used here.

 

Probably the AAV is shared with some other car, so you might get lucky and search for the Bosch part number and see if there is a way to get it without the Ferrari tax if the part seems unusually expensive from the usual suppliers.

The AAV in general is on nearly every CIS equipped car ever made, so literally millions of them were made. But they will probably have slightly different bores, reaction times, mounting holes, hose connections, etc. (I assume that the hole size is different for a 1.5 liter Rabbit than a 4 liter Mercedes, but that's just a guess.) In a pinch you could probably put one on from a junk yard Volvo and the car would run fine. A shame but there are probably 50 permuatations of this part that is exactly the same inside. Would Ferrari have their very own version?

I imagine Ferrari would want several hundred dollars for it. Same Bosch part but with pretty Ferrari packaging.
