I was driving around Long Island Monday and spotted this Mondial coupe in a barb wired lot; it looks like it has been sitting a long time. There was nobody around that I could talk to, but there was a sign on the fence that said 'Display Area A-1 Auto Sales'. This was in Glen Cove, NY.
Good luck - hope it finds a home...

I figured it made sense to post in the regional area where the car is as well.

Of course :) Makes sense. I typically use the 'new posts' shortcut here and that didn't occur to me!!

    Take care & carry on

Kevin, that's a helluva spot. Do you know the address, or at least the street...? I work in Glen Cove and would like to swing by there if possible.

I'll try and find the address, but it was a main road that runs north & south to 495; a few miles south of Glen Cove.

    That's Glen cove road.
Not the gray mondial8 I used to see on Forest Ave in front of a shop for many, many years when I lived in Locust Valley.

I'm confused now! I was in the Glen Cove area, but can't find the building on google maps. It was on the corner of a side street in 'low-rent' area. Here is the only other picture I took....
    I'll help find it.

'low-rent' may not be the best description - it was not in the gated estate neighborhoods of that area....
The side street went up-hill if that helps.

That is crime! That poor Mondi.
Probably just a parts car now.

OK - it is at the corner of Glen Cove Ave. and Craft Ave.
Let me know how it goes!

Here's another from Microsoft's Live Search. Though it's difficult to tell it appears that the vehicles have been moved around so maybe the Mondial hasn't been sitting out there for too long. Still, it's in sad shape and worth checking out

Everyday, I drive by a Meineke on Glen Cove Road - just before 106/107 if you're going north - and I see a gray Mondial 8 parked in their parking lot. It's in the same spot everyday, and it's been there for a while.

I stopped in today and spoke with the clerk. He said this particular Meineke also owns a body shop and the owner of the Mondial is a customer of said body shop. He also said that they were able to get the car running, but that it needs coils in order to continue running. When I get to my own computer, I'll post pictures. Perhaps the car will run with just coils, but it needs to so much work, it's not even funny.

The clerk said that the owner was not interested in selling the car - but that at one time he said he'd let it go for $10,000. Considering the car's current condition, I think that's $15K-$20K too much.

I posted this in the Mondial/ 308 section, but should have posted here. I spotted this a couple of weeks ago and stopped to take the pics. It looks even worse in person, if that is possible. Can't believe it could be anything but a parts car. To fix it up will cost way more than a mint Mondial 8. 10k? I guess under the theory that there is sucker born every minute, he could give it a try. I will say however, there are at least 10k worth of parts if you have the time an energy to part it out.

lol- the owner must not care or need money :D and we can assume he does not have to pay to store the car there ;) You would think the car might have a lien on it, thus it is stuck there until a bill gets paid, but apparently not

Yep - truly a shame. I don't understand this mentality - but to each his own I guess.

I forgot to post pictures - but I don't need to, because yours explain everything.

This car is a very sad state of affairs. Such a pity that it's not worth fixing because it'll probably just waste away.
