Hello all. My car is Ferrari 458 Spider 2013. Yesterday I check the under body,I saw the automatic transmission Oil has leak. And I can't fine the shaft seal number, does anyone know this? Best Regards and thank you in advance Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Isn't the car still under warranty? I've heard that the DCT gearboxes are only sold as a complete assembly.
Perhaps that is true for the innards of the boxes, it sure does not mean that a simple shaft seal is not available. Even if not available from Ferrari, I am sure a reputable shop can remove the seal, take measurements and specifications and obtain a proper replacement for it. It would be pretty outrageous if a seal problem would command a total gearbox replacement.
You will have to pull the axle and the flange. On the seal there should be stamped a size usually 3 numbers separated by either a hiphan or an "x".
It's a nearly new car. The ones sold here come with a seven year warranty. What's your story? If it's only a seal it should be an easy fix but the DCT gearboxes have had some failures. If it's anything more you will probably need a dealer.
FWIW in the US the warranty is 3 yrs not 7. The 7 yr is routine maintenance e.g. oil changes etc not repair of other issues. The difference is huge.
Seems unusual for a one year old car to have leaks. The seal could be just the symptom rather than the real problem.
Unfortunately the dealer is not able to work on the transmission and each getrag trans will be shipped back to the company to be repaired. Just with through this procedure for a 2010 califronia where the wiring harness inside short circuited due to a clamp failing and allowing the gears to chew through the wires. Cost was over $20,000
Thomas at Ferrari of Atlanta has had training at Ferrari on the DCT gearbox and they be serviced/repaired. Suggest you contact them- 678-802-5000.
The Ferrari dealerships are now rebuilding DCT transmissions. Tools and tech data went out about a year ago. Ricambi has a 458 parts catalog online, so all you have to do is look up the seal part number if that is all you want. Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini Parts Diagrams: Model = 458 Italia
It is in the Ferrari double secret eyes only parts book. The dealer could show you but he'd have to kill you afterwards. Or that output shaft could be removed and taken apart and the seal taken down to Bearing Engineering and matched up for $3.49
LMAO! The seal is an easy fix for some of us. Still no explanation of why a nearly new car isn't under warranty.
Stolen? Tim- Beats me where it is in the parts catalog. I did not see it either, but that is the best info any of us mortals have.
Sorry for late reply, and thanks for your answer. The car buy from Macau, but always drive in China. So if warranty, need back to Macau, will be trouble.
