Me thinks that the flywheel needs a little TLC. The good news is that I'm gonna change the gear oil, drop in test pipes, revive the oxidized stock exhaust can and do a lot of "Spring" cleaning! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Shameless high-jack... ............... does the 348spider and 348SS share the same exhaust arangement??
Doc, I think what you're doing is great! I'm thinking about a flywheel job on my car soon... the how-to's will be a great help...take lots of pics, and share any specific problems you run into... And, have fun doing it! Mike in Kuwait
Thanks!!........ drburnswells muffler 'crossbar' looked just like Vinces. So are the 348ss and the spider rated at the same HP?? I am assuming this 'singlecan' config was a later year model too.......?
My 1995 Spider came with a factory, single-can exhaust. I've already started on it with a wire wheel and some light grade sandpaper. The cats are going first, so I'd like to have a clean can
Yes and yes. They are both 320HP from the factory. Single can muffler came in 348 GTB, GTS and Spider. 1993 onwards.
My 1994 Spider has two exhaust intake hoses that draw from the air filter to the one way check valves...doesn't look *anything* like what's shown on his 1995 Spider. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I agree...for his car. But my 1994 348 Spider has a passive air injection. Exhaust vacuum (flow in opposite direction) pulls fresh air from my air filter past two 1-way check valves into the exhaust headers. Now, on your 355 you may very well have an active air injection pump that does the above. What's going into his exhaust is a bit, mmm ...baffling... to me, though!
It looks like it may have an electric air blower with its own air filter, like mine. Since it looks as though the air 'source' is coming from one location..... ?
The pipes are just plumbing for the "Air Injection" system. Follow the link for a few pics that show it far better. http://picasaweb.google.com/RebelBanker/AirInjectionSystem/photo#s5182087633958894466 So, PAP... I'm getting 320, you say?!
what does this actually do? I thought once the engine is warm the check valve turns of the air intake any way? Why would you force induce it if it's only used during warm up? I plugged mine up... Kai
