Im about to go for a white/red 328GTB. What should I look for and where should I look for the history of the car? Also are there any other things I have to know about before going for it? It is a 62k mile car owner said 60k service just done.

I would start with documentation that the 60,000 service was actually done and by whom.

I saw a red/white GTB for sale not to long ago; can't remember where. Wonder if its the same one...

The seller should have the service records, and be willing to have you look at them. With a belt change approx. every 5 years, the car should have had a major service at least...well, do the math. There should also be records of numerous oil changes

Have a PPI done, at a dealership or a reputable, knowledgable, independent shop.

Apparently something wasn't right with this. He sold the car. Apparently my promise of ALL CASH wasn't good enough for him. But if anybody else knows of a 328GTB and likes the word CASH then you can let me know. this was the car

I figured it was too good to be true. Thanks for all your help anyway.

Well, when you do find a 328, in addition to the obvious things to check like belts and hoses, check for the following; my car has 53k miles and all the following either have been or will be replaced or rebuilt in the recent past or near future:

    --All suspension bushings
    --All rear CV boots
    --Front brake calipers and rotors
    --Radiator
    --Water pump
    --Shift shaft seals
    --Catalytic converter and O2 sensor
    --Tachometer
    --Battery hold-down clamp

Also check the functioning of air conditioning, central locking and window motors, which have been know to be weak points in these cars. Good luck!

    Overhyped so I'm suspicious.

A 60K+ car that's advertised as "incomparable to a 20,000 car"! Of course it's incomparable - it's done 3 times the miles you dolts!!

Where DO these people come from?

Did you get a vin number on that 328?

$25,000 for an 87 GTB feels like too low a price. Also, the location shows as New York yet the car has Florida plates. There's nothing wrong with that, but a vin # would allow a bit of research

As far as the FLorida plates go, I know a lot of people in my neighborhood who have a place a Florida. All of them have Florida plates on their cars. Insurance in NY is outrageous, and Florida regulations only require one plate. NY registered cars must have a front plate. It wasn't meant to be, Ill keep looking.

Was that car VIN# 70147? It was in so. Cal. for a long time. It was offered in 11/02 with 61K miles on it. Asking 39K at the time. I heard it went to upstate NY. It was for sale about 2 years from 12/00 to 11/02. I think the problem was they wanted too much (mid 40's) until late in '02. In any event, 25K is too cheap. Perhaps the owner was being inundated with calls and figured out it was too cheap.
