Good afternoon chaps, im about to do it, throw some more money down the Gurgler on a car. Not a Ferrari yet, but the nearest thing i can afford is a Lotus Elise, so here goes. I have made an offer on a local car which i dont beleive will be accepted (however if it is, ill be sure to post pics next week if i pick it up), anyhoo, If i dont get this i will most likely get a car interstate (given that im in Perth almost everything is elsewhere), so am curious if anyone can point me in the right direction for people who do trustworth PPI inspections? and also good freight companies? If all fails localy next week there is a Yellow elise at Rick Damelion's in NSW which he has already offered me at an attractive price as well. In the case of this one its a 2002 with 10k's on it. WIth a car like this from a Lotus dealer, is there any reason to get a 3rd party PPI? (on this note is anyone farmiliar with RD in NSW? or the car itself?) what sort of checks can be done in each state for finance? (I know if you buy from a dealer that shouldnt be an issue), accident history? etc? any input from people in the know, or people who have done a similar thing would be great. i guess i may need to ask the moderators to change my name to Lotusdude?
Im dealing with Jayson Niue, he has seemed quite good over the phone, no messing around etc, but being in Perth makes it really difficult to just get down there and put my money on the table. have you ever dealt with RD motors?
Bjorne, have you been to Barbagallo's? They have a Lotus Elise 111S for sale at the moment, here is a pic of it at the Classics in the Park show a few weeks ago: http://img211.exs.cx/img211/4383/lotuselise111s21cf.jpg
That red 111S is the local car i was referring to. I made an offer on it last week, and he said he would check and get back to me on monday. im not hopefull though, as he didnt want me to put anything in writing or anything, so i dont think they'll accept my offer. anyway its a 2003 model that was not registered until October 2004, and they still cant give it away. so i made an appropriate offer based on the cars i have seen interstate. so I hope they will take my offer, then i can have it on monday or tuesday next week, if they dont, im not willing to pay any more, and will look interstate. BTW dingo, ive noticed that you seem to pop into Barbagallo quite a bit, Ray must know you quite well now
Awesome, I hope your offer gets accepted anyway....I love those little cars Yeah I go every now and then to see whats new, and yes I saw Ray just this morning althought the 575 HGTC there sort of distracted me from him BTW, 'your' Elise was still there so it hasn't been sold to someone else yet
Yeah, i dont think it will run away, they havnt been able to sell it for the last 14 months or so, i doubt someone else will come along with those sort of $$$ in the next week or so, the market for Elises has died in the ass lately, and people just cant shift em, so therefore i think they just wanna cut their losses and move it. oh well, if you keep everything crossed for me, and also my wife and i do the same, it may happen, but will see, as im not willing to pay any more than ive offered.
Thanks for that Stephens, i have just send them a little note asking what they have in stock. just out of curiousity, what has your experience with Rick Damelion's been? are they a reputable dealer? do they have quality stock? or are they renowned for buying rubish? do you know anyone who does trustworth PPI's in sydney? Cheers
Robert Damellion is a staroght shooter, can't comment on the dealership as a whole though. They are very large, so theoretically should be ok. When it comes to Lotus, Adrian is your man. Aside from Rover and Morgan they also have a Ducati dealership which I am a customer of. Great service, best prices and integrity.
Well just for the record, I have done it, i purchased a 2002 Lightning Yellow Elise with 10k's. No Air con, but upgraded brakes, and Alcantara interior. Dont have any good pics of it to post, because the pics i have at the moment are all prety poor, but you can be assured when i get it there'll be heaps of pics. Should be here just after easter, but im hoping just before so i can join the Tsunami super cruz from fremantle
Great news, did you buy it locally? I have seen a few of them around here (including another yellow one), so I'll keep an eye out for you driving around
Hey Pete, was that just a play on your UserID, or where you actually being serious? i personally dislike air conditioning (gives me a headache), i would rather drive with the window down myself. I think a non aircon version was far more true to what a Lotus Elise is. And for that matter it was a little more for me to bargain with. and Dingo the yellow ones you would have seen here are Saffron Yellow, which is a little more orange, mine is Lightning Yellow, which is like a chrome flourescent yellow (hard to miss), of which im not aware of any others in perth, so im sure if you see me you'll know , and my license plates say LOONEY, so ill be hard to miss
this is the only pic I could find of one of the yellow ones I have seen http://img65.exs.cx/img65/4764/lotuseliseyellow39wk.jpg BTW, when is this Tsunami cruise happening? Do you have any idea what type of cars will be taking part in the event? Oh and if you need a passenger for the cruise I will make myself available
Hey pete, again your answer confuses me. if i didnt know better i'd think you were trying to stir $#!t ;-) And Dingo, that pic is of an S1, and it is in a colour called Saffron Yellow, mine is the newer shape and in a far louder yellow
Oh and to answer your question Dingo, i think my wife would like to fill the passenger seat on our first outing (if i get it before easter), however you can sit on the engine hatch the Tsunami Super Cruz is set to leave from the Esplanade in Freo from 10AM onwards on Easter monday. they are expecting around 500 cars from Aston Martins to Zephyrs (A-Z hahaha) so should be well worth a look, even if your not going to go in it. they expect the first car to leave at 10AM and the last car to leave at around 3PM, so should be a good all day event.
Haha....fair enough, I'll have to think about that offer Seriously though it sounds like an interesting event so I might go over and have a look, do you know whether the cars will be on display before the start at all or is it non-stop driving all day?

Yep I just got it (took a while on the 56K i am on until the 1.5M broadband is back on Monday )....its a nice car and like you said a striking colour Do you plan on any mods for it (i.e. exhaust) in the future? If you ever drive through the South Perth area chances are I will spot you since not much gets past me and my camera Thanks for the pics
