It seems that the NJ Gov was not wearing his seat belt, the State Trooper driving the SUV did not make him buckle up, and the Trooper was speeding on the GSP.
Since he was not able to avoid the accident in front of him, it could be argued that he was driving carelesly.

It seems that no charges were issued to anyone involved.

Does this signal a new dawn in the enforcing of NJ traffic laws, or do they not apply equallly to all?

I hope that Corzine gets fined or has whatever criminal action taken against him to the fullest extent possible.

As usual... the law is equal for everybody, except those who are above the law.

I feel bad for the tropper. From what I have read, the troopers always requested the Gov to wear his seatbelt but he would always ignore their requests and they finally gave up. True, they could have refused to drive him but I think if I was in their shoes, I would realize the career suicide holding that stance with the Governor of NJ.

I think we were better off with the Gay Governor that one that thinks the Laws don't apply to him.

As soon as I heard the injuries the Gov had suffered -- broken femur (in two places), many fractured ribs, broken sternum, broken collar bone -- I knew he wasn't wearing the seatbelt. The only way the femur could be broken is if he hit the dashboard. And the multiple factured ribs and sternum meant he hit the airbag and/or dash.

The interesting and instructive part of all this -- the driver, who was wearing his seat belt, was released from the hospital the day after the accident. He was hardly injured. The lesson here is to wear your seat belt, boys and girls. And I hope they do issue a summons to the Gov for not having his seat belt on. I think he's more than paying for his refusal to comply with the law with his injuries, but everyone else out there needs to know that even the Governor is not above the law.

Plus, when he pleads guilty, the Judge should sentence him to do a series of TV and radio commercials promoting seat belt usage, with pictures of the Gov being taken out of the wreck and on a ventilator in the hospital, to drive the point home.
