This is just a quick up date from my prior thread on possible ABS Computer switches http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/348-355-sponsored-bradan/491963-abs-computer-bulls-information.html Anyhoo, I actually procured a gen-u-wine, official Ferrari unit and switched it with the Ford unit someone had put in my car in the distant past. We were supposed to get a coating of snow last week which I thought would be perfect for an ultimate back-to-back comparison between the 2 units, but it only stuck to the grass, not the pavement. The best I could do was panic stops on a sandy bit of pavement. In my half-a$$ed, unscientific study the performance was indistinguishable between the units. I tried to open them up to compare the insides. It seems they coat the internals with some type of resin before assembly, and although the Ford unit came apart fairly easily (wow, there's a LOT of bits and pieces inside) the Ferrari unit was less cooperative, and due the cost paid for the unit I wasn't willing to mangle it, even for the brotherhood. So, what does this mean? Not much... I would still recommend for safety/liability issues to use a correct Ferrari unit, but for testing purposes to see if the problem with an ABS warning light is a bad computer, the Lincoln Mark VII unit (check the other thread above) unit is a dandy very cheap way to go, or if you computer fails and there aren't any available at the moment, one could consider using the fake one temporarily until you can get your hands on the real thing.
