Is it just me or does the ABS kick in too soon? I'm not too happy with the braking power of the 458. Many times I feel the car isn't going to stop in time and then I feel a violent rattle on the peddle. It's much more noisier than any ABS I've experienced on other cars. Feels like the pads hitting a warped disc.

This is usually in sports mode and I know in Race the ABS kicks in later but still.... Does anyone else feel or have a similar issue of the 458 not having the stopping power you would expect from the CCB? Is it the ABS kicking in which I'm feeling? Or do you think there is something wrong with my brakes?

Have you bedded in the brakes? There are several threads about this. Try braking hard from 80 to 20 mph six times in rapid succession. After the brakes cool, you will have much more stopping power and the brakes will be much easier to modulate.

BTW, I've never had a violent rattle on the brake pedal.

Brakes MUST be warm to stop this car in a hurry and hurry it does once the brakes are heated up.

Tires need to be warm too. But the behavior here doesnt seem right. I think you should discuss this with the dealer to be sure everything is ok. Tires & brakes are items on the "dont screw around" list.
