Looking at a 328--88 or 89. Does it matter if it has ABS? Where there any problems with the early ABS cars? Or is it just driver preference?

I have an 89 myself. The ABS works very well for an old system and is problem free as far as I know. However, I would not consider a big deal. The suspension upgrade in late 88 is far more important.

I have a late 89 328 GTS with ABS......gotta say it works just fine.
Handling is great for a road car of this vintage, and the looks are all I want in a Ferrari.
I bought a garage queen with less then 4000 miles on her....in absolutly perfect nick.....put a new set of Bridgestones on, a full belt service, and have added another 5000 miles this year....(did I forget to mention the new altenator, battery, top up the A/C).
Nah...she runs great and has been fault free....but $57,000. for 35k on the clock......you need to deal! Good luck

And the original 'concave' rims on pre-ABS ones looks better IMO!

I have an 88 328 GTS and the reason I picked up this car over the 89 was the concave wheels. IMO they are nicer than the convex wheels.

I wasn't overly concerned with ABS. I don't drive it in the rain or in the winter, so to me ABS isn't a big deal. Besides, it's more fun to downshift than applying the brakes.

As far as the suspension upgrade, I've heard that it is better than what's on the 86-88. The question you have to ask is whether the other items (wheels and ABS) are worth it to you.

I hope you find what you want.
