    I have a leaking pump unit. Enough to drain the entire reservoir during a 60 mile drive. It was leaking down the firewall into the undertray and out every possible hole it could to the ground. I removed the unit (bracket only) and the electrical connections, but none of the hydraulic lines, nor the "bomb."

    As shown in the attached photo, on the very end of the cylinder that faces the engine-side, once I turned the pump unit vertical...the fluid was easily seen leaking from that point. Questions;

    should I buy a seal kit and attempt to repair on own? ...or just buy a rebuilt unit? Alternatively, could someone let me know what it would take to simply bypass the unit? ...would I have to create some sort of circuit "trip" to not have the CPU flash warnings every time I drive?

    Could someone, like @tazandjan let me know if maybe something else in the system is wrong and this is simply the pump blowing-off excess pressure...as a "normal/precautionary" function? Thanks, WP Image Unavailable, Please Login

    Show a bigger picture with more of the pump. It looks like you have the old ATE ABS system. If so...

    1. They leak all the time.
    2. You cannot bypass them or you will have no brakes
    3. Don't bother rebuilding, or finding a used Ferrari one at $1,000 each.
    4. Get a Jaguar pump for 1/4 the cost of the Ferrari one. You might have to change the pressure switch over
    5. You may need a new mounting bracket to make it lean the right way

    This won't be quick. Good luck.

    As mentioned above this will not be easy. I believe you are referring to the Teves Mark IV hydraulic brake booster pump as used only on early 456's rather than the ABS pump which is in a separate ABS unit. I had a malfunctioning pressure switch on mine for which I managed to find an equivalent Delco part # (25530882). I was not able to find any parts or even rebuild services for the complete unit although I didn't need this so didn't look hard. Ferrari listed only the complete unit for a ridiculous amount of $. In addition to the Jaguar (XJ40 ?) I believe it appears on 95 -02 Range Rover , 93 -98 Porsche 911 and several 1986 - 1988GM ( Pontiac , Olds, etc) maybe GM part# 10132772 I can verify the pressure switch # but not the rest. Junk yards may not be a bad idea. Good luck - please post you solution when you find it.
