And does anybody care? Will the teams even bother to bring spare parts and all their crew? Better to save the money and just DNF. I can't find FP1 or 2 on ESPN...just FP3 and Qualifying and the race.

Where would Ferrari be at this point if they hadn't had so much bad luck this year?

The fight is for 2nd place Mr. Positive Vibes.
Currently Mercedes has 392pts vs. Ferrari's 388pts for the WCC standings.

2nd place gives the winner $125 million.

3rd place gives the winner $116 million.

A difference of $9 million USD.

That doesn't include the historical prize money for teams like Ferrari and Mclaren.

So if the difference between 2nd and 3rd is 9 million, how much to travel the team to Abu Dhabi? And what are the different scenarios for Ferrari to win? Certainly a DNF by one of the Mercs would help...but even if both DNF's...what would Ferrari have to do to get those five points?

I wonder if the 9 million is worth more or less than the development time you get 3vs2? Seems like more development time would be very valuable to Ferrari. 9 million is 10 SF90s.

All they need to do is have both cars finish in the points where the cumulative total is 6 more than Merc finishing in the points.

    Who are the players?

    Max will win...

...so second on down...let's discuss during the race and see if anyone succumbs to the pressure.

Given the cost cap total, Ferrari is being paid to race. McLaren doing well also as they recover a large part of the current spend.

Seems to me that Ferrari has way more money than they're permitted to spend. While as a fan, would be great to see them get 2nd, realistically I think it is better for the team to finish 3rd.

f1 pays for the top 9 teams' equipment transport for starters.

    -

This isn't about saving 9 million btw. That's not even 4 days of their annual profit.

ESPN gives the least coverage possible while still satisfying their broadcast agreement. They can't wait to cut back to college kids catching a ball.

Quite a contrast after the MASSIVE overhyping of the Las Vegas weekend. I would really hate to see F1 degraded by over-Americanization in cheesy Vegas and/or Miami style....like bat and ball sports for example.
