My AC was blowing super cold on my 2000 360 F1 until a week ago. All of a sudden it's blowing regular air but not cold anymore. And the timing sucks cause it 100 degrees in Los Angeles these days. Is it just the AC freon most likely? I saw a thread on recharging it yourself but looks a bit complicated to me. Any suggestions? Thnx guys.

Did someone press the Stop button by accident?

Same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago. Turned out the rear bracket for the AC compressor had cracked. The compressor was slightly out of place so the belt wasn't held tight enough, so it didn't run. Got a used bracket from a salvage and waiting on install at the dealer.

Not saying that's your issue, but just saying it could be something non-obvious like what happened to me.

I had a freon leak from the first time i bought the car, i got it fixed replacing some cheap rubber seals. Not big deal.

It sounds like the freon is just a little low. That's the first avenue I'd check out.. it's also the cheapest and quickest. When the freon level/pressure gets too low a switch in the system activates and disengages the compressor.

You can take the panel in front of the windshield off for a recharge. It's like 8 3mm hex screws... or you can bring it in..

Also check the second speed fan is cutting in on the r/h side, if not then it will never work in those kind of ambient temps.

I hope it's just the freon. I have a feeling that's just it. AC blows fine just not cold air. Any suggestions as to time/cost to recharge it?

Have it checked out for a leak, and also have the operation of the compressor checked. It could be one of many things, including a bad compressor, leak in the system or a malfunction in the climate control. Recharging it is a waste of money if you do have a leak somewhere in the system.
