Maybe you long time Ferrari owners can help me...I recently started hearing a faint knocking under the dash in my 360...I noticed the knock goes away when I shut the compressor off by pressing in the AC "stop" button...Anyways I was a little concerned so I took my car to the Ferrari dealer and had them check my freon...it was low...so I had it charged...while I am there I had several services done to the car and while working on the car the tech noticed under the car the AC compressor seemed to have a little leak...He recommended changing it in the near future...The AC blows cold...but I just wanted advice? Should I suck it up and pay the 2200 for the part and 600 labor and get it done or should I use the old one until it stops working...any advice is appreciated

    Thanks

I can't speak for the 360 but I've had other cars were the ac fan made a little noise which went away when turning the ac off. Since it can't hurt anything to continue to use the car, see if it gets better or worse with time. It may prove to be other than the compressor..

If the a/c compressor has a little leak, I wouldnt worry too much about it. :):)

I am trying to source a compressor for another FChatter here that is cheaper than genuine. If I have a win, I will let you know. :):)

Although I am not familiar with the 360 AC set up the question I would ask is what would happen if the compressor locked up. Is it on a separate belt so it won't hurt anything if the belt breaks. A leaking compressor not only takes the freon out of the system it also takes out the compressor oil which lubricates the compressor. On our 308's the compressor has a separate belt and if it breaks it usually doesn't take out the alt/WP belt. I don't know how this works on the 360.

Steve thanks for the input...I just did the belt service...replaced timing belt, bearings, tensioners, alt belt, and AC belt...I will check to see if there is a danger if the compressor goes out..Thanks for the points
