Hi guys, Just had a marvelous drive in my F430. I very rarely have the A/C on. Meaning, the OFF button is always pressed inwards. Today, after de-pressing the OFF button and running the A/C for a while, I wanted to switch it off again but noticed there was no ‘click’ feeling in the button and it wouldn’t stay pressed in! Very weird. Even weirder, when you would push in the button it would illuminate. It does that! So it somehow sees that it’s being pressed. It just doesn’t stay pressed haha. Now, the A/C is on continuously. Not sure what happened, but has anyone ever encountered this problem? Or perhaps do you have a good tip on how to quickly unmantle the dash buttons in that part of the dashboard so I can have a look what’s wrong with the actual button? Many thanks in advance! Cheers
I'm curious to know if the Windows AI instructions are valid for the F430... Usually they are hilariously wrong: Remove the Radio: Use a radio removal tool to take out the radio unit. This will give you access to the screws behind it1. Ferrari Becker Traffic Pro Ferrari BE 6100 Removal (youtube.com) Removing Ferrari Radio and Installing Codes - YouTube Access the Screws: Once the radio is out, you will see two more screws holding the center dash plate in place. Remove these screws to free the center dash plate. Remove the Center Dash Plate: Carefully pull out the center dash plate to expose the HVAC control panel. Be gentle to avoid damaging any clips or connectors. Disconnect the HVAC Control Panel: Locate the screws or fasteners securing the HVAC control panel. [see video below... do not remove the screws entirely] Remove these screws and gently pull the panel out. Disconnect the wiring harnesses attached to the back of the panel. Then you have to open up the panel. Looks fairly straightforward. I assume the button's soft touch coating has gone sticky and is impeding movement, but there may be something wrong with the switch mechanism itself. On other cars, I've used emery cloth to make the hole a bit bigger.
Thanks man! Haha the AI world is not really my cup of tea, but I’ll have a look in to it! The button is not sticky; I had all my buttons and soft-touch parts redone with a specialist for a lot of $$ 3 years ago! So that can’t be it..
I'm told that faulty switch mechanisms are quite common. If your panel is otherwise good, you may be able to get the switch repaired or buy an old panel with a good switch and solder it in. Or ask the de-stickying companies if they have any spare switches.
Well, that’s actually what I’m thinking it is too! I’m at the dealer for fixing a faulty passenger door cable next week anyway haha. It’s starting to fall apart now. Keep you guys posted!
