I am about to install a new waterpump in my Indy4900 (LHM) and since I have the AC out at the same time, I am now comming to a point where I am struggling with what to do. I have two alternatives for installation. The original Air Condition unit that was in the car was completely dry. This unit is the Aspera model HG700AP. I happen to have a brand new Aspera HGC1000AP laying in my garage, but I am not sure what the C stands for in the model name, so I am sceptical of exhanging the HG700AP that I would rather have liked to send away for restoration prior to installing it back in the car.

Can the C stand for counter clockwize, so that the pump is designed to rotate the other way around and shouldn't be installed at all in this car?

And does it matter the 300 difference in the model name, I assume the 700 is a 7 ccm unit while the 1000 is a 10 ccm unit. a tad bigger volume, what can that do to the standard setup in the Indy?

If anyone here knows a thing or two about the differences and can give pointers to what I should do it would be great!

    Kind regards

Perhaps the "C" is an indication as to the location or the type of ports. Are the suction and discharge ports in the same location and the same type on both units?

The in and outlets are different, no practical impact when it comes to installing it in the car but that might be the explanation of the C. Thank you Ivan!

Aren't some units 12V while others are 24V? I think that is what I've read while researching the Sanden unit.

I am not very knowledgeable about the internal workings of the AC compressor but my understanding is that the ports need to be in the same location as it affects the oiling.

The voltage on these units are just for trigging the pulleywheel to engage the magneto cluch right? I intend to use the original AC pulleywheel from the car on the new AC unit to make sure I get the right position for the water pump wire \ backup bracket.

I will check with a local AC shop here if the location of the inlet\outlet (same position but different angles\flenges) matter for the oiling.

Thank you Ivan & Maserati Blue

    Kind regards
