    Hi there,

    Got a strange issue with my A/C unit.

    If I disconnect the battery and reconnect it the A/C unit shows E5 after some seconds/minutes and refused to let me adjust the temperature.

    I read the manual on my348.com and identified the heater control valve.

    So here is the strange thing:
    After the error E5 is shown I go into diagonstic mode and exit it again. Then the error is gone and the heater works as expected.
    Also if I put the temperature to the minimum the small lever indicated in this picture is moving correctly till its end position:

    So in a nutshell:
    Disconnect/Connect Power -> E5
    Diagnostic Mode -> E5 gone
    Heater valve working correctly after diagnostic mode

    What could cause this?

    (P.S. Just to mention there is no pressure on the A/C system at the moment as I replaced the compressor but this should not cause the E5 error - correct?)

    Hopefully some one will provide a detailed answer for you, in the meantime I'll give a junk reply: I've found the error codes useless..they all seem to come and go at random and usually have nothing to do with a fault in the part it's indicating. First I would check the plug in the back. It's like 16 or 20 tiny pins for the connector that can get corroded. I would unplug and reconnect it a few times with a small squirt of contact cleaner. Also check that the "hidden fuses" to the right of the air box under the front trunk liner are all OK and not melted or blown. If that doesn't work, May the Force be with you.
    (If it keeps bugging you and you are ready to throw it against the wall.. don't... its worth $$$, but check out thread from 12/30/12 "348 climate control module alternative")

    okay thanks - well if they are really not related i will wait till pressure is back in the system. Already checked fuses and had the a/c unit out to clean the plug - no results
