Sorry in advance..I did a search and nothing came up. Probably spelling accentuators wrong. Anyway does anyone have a photo of the dreaded spinning accentuator? I have my car up on the lift and I want to know what I am looking for. Any remedy for preventing this very expense problem from occuring? Maybe there is some kind of reinforcing I can do to prevent the accentuators from twisting and snapping. Please excuse my questions if they seem ignorant but I am not clear on the problem and just know they are way expensive to replace and I am trying to do what I can to prevent the problem from occuring. Pictures, suggestions, even a summary of the problem from someone who knows would be welcome. thanks Jon in Delaware

Do you perhaps mean shock actuators?

IIRC, the test is to have someone watch while you start the car and see if they turn, yes?

it's possible, but that'd be a new one on me. i always thought the rotation was fairly slow, over time, and it was a function of the computer dialing in the suspension changes over time.

That was a good thread. I fixed this issue a while back after reading that. On my car, the driver side actuator is attached such that it doesn't spin. However, on the passenger side, there was no attachment and the wire lead was definitely twisting. I removed the actuator, untwisted the lead and put the actuator back on. At that point, I found a robust part of the assembly that I could actually neatly epoxy to the engine compartment so that it was no longer free to twist itself around. That has fixed the problem so apparently the forces involved in twisting the actuator are not that great, lending itself to a "home-fix."

Great feed back thanks everyone. Sorry for the mystery spelling of actuator. No wonder the search function turned up zero. Jon in Delaware
