Hey guys; about a month ago my car decided it wanted to pick a fight with a curb, and one of the wheels got bent up; car is back now and all is well, but i want to sell my old wheels; problem is, one is bent pretty bad, and no one is in the market for only 3 wheels :p

They're 3 piece, so i could easily replace the outer rim i suppose, but the problem is the wheels are no longer in production, making it extremely hard to find replacements. If i could get it fixed, id prefer to go that route, so they'll be easier to sell.

    isn't it obvious? :p

repairs were $10k -- originally i wanted to do it out of pocket but instead ended up filing a claim :/

    repairs included the replacement of:

    right axle/outdrive
    complete subframe
    complete differential
    upper control arm
    lower control arm
    sway bar and endlinks
    trailing arm and bushing
    brake lines

I'd be quasi-hopeful that that could be fixed just based on the fact that it bent a fair amount without fracturing horribly -- a stock F 308 wheel wouldn't have survived that event as well ;)

Have you tried contacting Keystone (http://www.keystone-auto.com/bodyshops/index.html#) or Wheels America or someone similar?

    Haha. :D The crub did.

Cicada, is this for your M3 listed in your profile? If so, I say get new wheels. Preferably these: http://www.revozport.com/webpics/CSL%20Wheels/page_01.htm

Or if its cheaper to fix your wheels or get the wheels you wanted.

I'm pretty sure this can be repaired.

There are several organizations that can do this type of work. Very good results.

The ones I've used are here: http://www.mobilewheelrepair.com/ They have franchisees, but in this instance, the wheel would likely have to be sent to their repair facility in TX (IIRC). As you have a new set of wheels, you won't miss it while it's out. Turn around is ~ 4 weeks.

I've heard that there's also a very good one here: http://www.wheelcollision.com/wccsvcs.html

Have never used them, but they have a good reputation. You'd obviously have to ship the wheel to them, but it's probably worth the $.

 What wheels are the first wheels you posted off of? Or did you buy the CSL wheels to replace it, and just have the first wheels in your garage?

yes :) replaced them and the SSR GT3's are sitting waiting to be repaired/sold. always wanted the CSL/ZCP wheels, but the car came with the GT3's, and never got motivated enough to switch 'em out. looks like the accident was a blessing in disguise! :)

well the wheels are known for being _very_ soft -- no cracks that i can see, and i got the tires dismounted yesterday. it's just bent and the clear is flaking off.

I have not contacted any wheel repair places, but maybe i'll try crossposting this in the SoCal section in hopes of finding someone local.

Dilancer- have you used them before? just curious.

ALso Cicada- its not in your area, but www.wheelsamerica.com

they are suppose to be pretty good. Keep me posted on who you go too as I have an SSR wheel as well that needs a repair, not as bad though.

There are more than enough BMW wheels that are now a set of 3. I would sell the two read wheels as a set and be done. Repairing 3 peice wheels can be a pain, the bolts near the bent section can damage the centers where they are attached causing an oval hole. With that much damage it isn't worth the cost/ risk to repair them.

there is going to be hairline cracks throughout the wheel. at any speed, they can give out at any time. Are you willing to use those rims going 70mph? I know in the insurance industry, they will not even think about repairing that due to liabilities. got a family?

i've already replaced the wheels with the one piece CSL wheels; i figured the set might be easier to sell if i could get it fixed.

however, i guess i cna just sell the 2 front wheels as a set and the one rear wheel separately.

I'd love to have an unfixable Ferrari wheel like that to use as a hose reel.
