As far as the 350GT/400GT/400GT 2+2 production numbers, my guess is that they are "ballpark" ok, but not actually accurate. Probably nobody knows the exact numbers because the definition of a "400GT Interim" is pretty much up in the air. A lot of 350s had 400 motors and trannys put in them -- both by the factory and by private owners -- but that doesn't make them official interims... yet often they are counted in those numbers. There are other problems with trying to come up with accurate numbers. So let's just say the numbers you have for the 350/400s are approximate, but not accurate. Fred
Jalpa + Silhouette = 405. Perhaps this is closer to the 411 I've seen reported. It is curious that accurate production numbers for something as substantial and serial-numbered as an automobile can be so challenging.
Best I have for the US cars! But I have been told there are a couple more..so the number is closer to 147-150.. 37 - Yellow & Pearl Yellow 30 - Titanium & Dark Grey 22 - Pearl Orange 17 - Black 15 - Red & Rosso Vik 10 - Blue 5 - Purple 1 - Purple Grey 1 - Dark Green 1 - White For Diablos 6.0's total production for the world we have 339 (est.) and 44 SE's (est)
For USA also add the SE units I have #13, #15 and #19 2 brown and one gold...I know of at least three others two in gold and one in Brown in the USA.
Well, I do know the source for the following numbers... the factory (in 2005): >> On the occasion of the celebrations for its 40th anniversary, Automobili Lamborghini has therefore decided, as a small additional gift to all its loyal customers and enthusiasts, to put things right once and for all. A true Historical Archive has therefore been painstakingly created in addition to the Registro Lamborghini to collect production sheets of all `series' Lamborghinis produced since 1963 (prototypes and one-offs excluded for obvious reasons), and trace the full production history. The following database shows what is therefore to be considered the `definitive' list of the cars produced in Sant'Agata since 1963, as officially verified and deliberated by Automobili Lamborghini. Joe, I think you could refute the factory numbers, but you'd have to have the physical cars all together, which of course is never going to happen. I think contemporary mistakes were made -- by factory record keeping, number stamping, etc -- and other mistakes were made when this list was compiled. It was a "best effort" -- by the factory, but certainly not perfect. (I notice right away one list above says 70 isleros S and the other 75...something I have no idea about, but I do know for a fact -- from Lou Herrin -- that 2 Isleros were accidently given the same chassis number!) I'll tell you what I'd love to see from the factory is the actual chassis numbers of those 23 interims. THAT ... would be interesting Cheers, Fred
More common than you'd imagine. For example: Countach Owners Manual with engine technical specifications for a Miura
Ah the charm of Lamborghini... in the text from my book there is a paragraph that recounts the story of the USA technical director (told to me directly by him) being thrown out of Ferruccio Lamborghini's office after he suggested to him that the manuals weren't good enough! Obviously Ferruccio dint think much of such minor details Joe www.joesackey.com
Wow, I had no idea the 6.0 production was in such low numbers. What a truly desirable car. Im wondering what the production number will be for the lp640. -Peter Oh
Good enough??? Joe, I've heard it was more than that. It was "NO MANUAL...PERIOD" You talking about Jack Robbins? Fred
LOL. Cmon Fred youre stretching it bit... Ask Jack again! Jack simply pointed out the deficiencies in the Miura P400 owner's manual and asked why they couldn't have something comparable to what Porsche had. Ferruccio went ballistic, shooing him out of his office. However, the next day Ferruccio got over it and turned on the charm by taking Jack to Lunch. Yes, there WAS a P400 manual in 1968 - of sorts... Joe www.joesackey.com
Try and find something related to the Islero sometime. Use whatever is available from a 400 GT and figure out what doesn't match.
