Does anyone know an accurate source for trade-in values? I currently own a 2006 Infiniti G35x. It's more costly than I need for my current purposes, and I'm looking for a lower priced car. A trade-in is the most efficient transaction in light of all factors. I understand that a private sale would get a higher price, but I'm not looking to make a profit, only to (hopefully) come as close as possible to paying off the remainder of the loan on the car.

If anyone has any advice/information/recommendations, it's appreciated.

    Thank you.

Best indicator I know is to find out what similar cars were selling for last week at Manheim. That's the best indicator of true value.

As for on paper trade value. Way to many variables. Depending on what you're trading for, financing rate you're willing to swallow, how much you have down, how much you may be upside down, how many years you can stand being on the hook, etc... the value can swing $5000 either way.

Most dealers that you talk to are going to look at Kelly Blue Book or Edmunds when showing you what they can offer for your vehicle. If you're completely set on trading the vehicle in, you need to make sure that you handle the trade and your new purchase as two completely separate transactions.

Try shopping around on sites like autotrader, cars.com and others to see what vehicles like your Infinity are selling for in the open market. Then assume dealers will need to make a profit, so you'll need to deduct from that amount in order to come up with a fair value.

Do similar research to determine a competitive price for your new vehicle purchase. I can't overstate the importance of handling this as two separate transactions though.

Manheim values are the price dealers will give you for your car. Tell me the miles and I will give the trade-in price.

Just checked the site. It asks 2DR.....4DR...or 4DR AWD. Let me know.

The G35x should be 4dr AWD.

Thanks. Here are the current #'s. It looks like 24.5-25.0 for dealer trade in, with the 18k miles. Hope this helps.
