You will be fine. Judging by your posts you always seem to live life to the fullest so just keep living on your own terms and your age or lack of Ferrari won't matter at all.

The way I look at it is this...

People tend to think of their life as an event highlighted by chunks of time we call "years". It's not. Your life is linear, constant and progresses at the same speed regardless of what metric we have applied this season.

I find looking at it that way to be empowering. Because rather than thinking "I will be retired by the time I am <insert number>", I can think "no reason to put a number on it and procrastinate, let's just get working on it now".

What's different between 39 and 40? Nothing much. What's different between 39 and 9/10ths and 40 and 1/10th? Nothing. There is the same difference between 33 and 37 as there is between 38 and 42.

The only metric of your life that you cannot change is when it started. Who knows when it will finish? Maybe tomorrow you get run over by a bus. Maybe you'll live to be 108 yrs old? You can change it too - be healthy and live right and you'll live longer. The end is on a sliding scale, so everything in between the start and end can't really be quantified by a number - it just is what it is.

Sounds to me like you're doing very well for yourself - you ought to relish what you'll be able to do in the next 40! 25yrs old probably seems a looooong way behind you right? Think what you've accomplished in those 15 years. In 15 more, you will be 55 - still a young guy. Imagine if you were filthy rich, happily married and retired at 55 - you would young enough to do whatever you want, and still have your health and many years ahead of you. And when you think how long ago 25yo was, and what you've done since, think what you can do in the next 15? a LOT!

    Don't sweat it.

    Having said that, I still don't date chicks > 33 :)

    LOL

Great advice. Everything after 30 is downhill anyway, so who cares :)

I would suggest getting a few buddies and going on a "cultural expedition" ;) to Rio or Buenos Aires or Costa Rica or Dominican Republic or Eastern Europe or Australia

Actually thats what I suggest for EVERY birthday LOL

Doesn't this look like more fun than eating cake at a restaurant ?

Yeah yeah yeah...............big deal, I never played Madison Square Garden, like I wanted to either! I still have a great life now! I did not get my first F car until I was 44, so at least you got that going for you!

You'll be fine.....it just gets better!

    Happy Birthday Remix

We are the same age and our birthdays are only a couple days apart !

40 isnt as bad for me as 35 was...35 represented the point where 20 yr olds start to think of you as an 'older guy'. That freaked me out a bit.

My GF is turning 25 in a couple weeks and she refers to me as her 'old man'.

Here's what's happened in the days preceding my 40th (so far):

    1) I've developed a face full of zits like a 16 year old. Toss out the Viagra and get me some Oxy.
    2) A chick I'd never met before offered me a blowjob Saturday night after my set. Beforehand however she went on and on about why I wasn't playing the main song from "Night at the Roxbury". Needless to say I was very conflicted about this woman and her age/tastes.
    3) I got "measured" this morning and am told I'm 10% body fat and down 55 lbs since October.
    4) Promoters have planned two birthday parties for me - one in Charlotte, NC and one down here. Looking forward to the hangover while on my return flight Saturday (which is my birthday day), and then repeating the process again that evening. I took next week off!
    5) I realize I download and watch entirely too much pron. Maybe that's why I have the zits? I definitely do not need Viagra.
    6) I came to the conclusion I actually DO have a need for Just for Men hair color.
    7) I discovered that, when I walk into a store full of trendy clothes that younger people tend to buy/wear, the sales clerk chickies look at me weird (i.e., here comes an old guy).
    8) Two strippers I know have offered, at their expense, to take me out in a limo all night Friday until dawn to celebrate (unfortunately, had to decline as I will be in Charlotte). This was tough to turn down as they both have big tan fake cans. One, she has really big areolas. I don't mind. My fiance wasn't so thrilled about this invite though.

You'll be fine. Although, I believe those Geritol pills can get costly. ;)

    Oui, oui, yes he is.

Speaking of oui oui, I'm surprised you didn't advise him to see a urologist for an old age check up.

Have a happy birthday. I'm approching my 40th in Oct. I'm already feeling uneasy about the idea of being a guy in his 40's.

Oh well, isn't 40 supposed to be the new 30 anyway?
