Driving up the 2/Fresh Pond Parkway yesterday, we were passing under the large trees and all of the sudden acorns began to shower down and pelt the row of cars. We took two direct hits that sounded like wrenches dropped on the car. I now have a nice dent pinged into my hood from the sharp point of an acorn. It appears the roof didn't dent though (has a bit more flex in the metal).

    :(

That sucks. Last year we had a few hail stroms that made me crindge with fear of a thousand little dents, but I was ok. That AL hood on the WRX can be quite soft. Paintless dent repair? Worst case senario it shouldn't be too hard to find a replacement hood from some kid that switched over to carbon fiber.

I have a hope it can be popped back with one of those suction/glue things. I have a door ding from a kind stranger in a parking lot to fix too, which looks like it could also be popped into place again.

With every ding, scratch and parallel parking scars left by our neighbors, we sigh and remind ourselves we didn't buy a new car to sell it, but to keep it until it died - which the Subaru dealer assured us would be a long, long time. Unless someone else kills it while parked on the street.

This year the tree in front of my house has almost no acorns BUT a couple of years ago it was a bumper crop. It was crazy. Thousands and thousands all over the street. You had to duck everytime you went out the front door. It was like being attack.

Last year we had no acorns at all it seems! This year, we are making up for lost time (and dents) The oaks surounding our parking area are about 90+ feet tall and the gravity makes them drop faster than the Enzo.... BOOM!

My Toyota is covered with dents from the prior years.... almost too small to do much about, by heartbreaking nonetheless!

So far I have been lucky to not get one to the head! LOL

Saw some work done by a guy who did the paintless dent removal and when he was finished you would have never known that the area was repaired....believed he charged $40.00, but that was on a Chrysler.
