I bought a 2014 458 Spider with 14K miles from a supercar dealer (Tactical), not a Ferrari dealer. In talking to my local Ferrari service department, they see history of maintenance through the 7 year extended warranty into 2020, but nothing since. I have been driving the car for about a week now and everything seems to work. All the buttons, no check engine light, and was even able to recalibrate the TPMS and shut the flat tire icon off. Car looks and sounds great.

I am bringing it into the dealer service department to have the following work done at their recommendation. It is $6K, but will bring me piece of mind that a dealer is now inspecting, servicing and keeping up to date records. Their recommendation is:

2 year service including oil, brake system service, air filters, serpetine belt replacement, and complete inspection.
    Cooling system service.
Spark Plug replacement and ignition coils cleaned.
Gearbox fluid and DCT fluid service.

Does this sound about right for a 10 year old car, with 14K miles, that has fallen outside of the dealer service network for last 3 or so years?

I thank you in advance for you views/opinions on this.

Gearbox/DCT fluid is a little aggressive as far as I remember.

    Congrats on your purchase.

I question spark plugs at 14K miles, if running well, especially if one plug is inspected.

Guess that includes cleaning coil packs while in there for plugs. Which makes little sense to me.

I would say the list seems ok ( maybe except for plugs and coils) but the price seems a little high off for basically fluid changes ..
I am aware that the DCT fluid is not cheap ( few hundred ) but still

I've had very mixed luck with dealer maintenance and prefer not to use them. I had a very similar situation and took the car to my well-trusted independent to establish a solid baseline for the car. It was about 70% cheaper than your quote for a very similar service. I don't know your dealer but I've had a situation where a dealer stated they did the work but the evidence proved otherwise. Just because it's a dealer doesn't always mean it's good. FWIW, I would talk to other owners in your area and ask who they use.

Seems high. I just had my service done that included everything you mentioned except for gearbox fluid and DCT fluid service. My cost was about a third of your cost. Service done at the dealership with a FCA discount. Only thing I questioned on my bill was the $451.36 for spark plugs

Find a good indy in your area. The dealer is way to expensive.

    Check
check the handbook for the plugs as a 430 is at 40k miles, also were they changed during the 7 years from new. Inspect one and save the expence

IIRC for the 458 it is something like 60-70K miles. Not 14K.

Seems a bit soon for Spark plugs, coils and DCT fluid. Find a good local indy and do the oil change, belts, brake fluid and filters. Have the dealer take care of any active recalls which I believe are the airbag and brake fluid tank.

Congrats on your new to you Ferrari!

If you have the time, you may contact Norwood Auto Italia here in Dallas, they do a lot of TF out of warranty work. They may have performed some if not all of the work you've outlined above. I assume your Dealership is quoting you without actually seeing the car. If so, they may be outlining the worse case example and may find some of the work is not needed.

Shoot me the last 6 of your VIN in a PM and I will take a look to see what's needed or coming up next for your Ferrari.
Are you a Ferrari Club member yet? The DFW Chapter has over 100 events a year, we'd love to have you out!
Our next event is this Saturday, LMK!

How did your well-trusted independent save you 70% , did they perform less work, or just charge you considerably less labor? Maybe less mark up in OEM parts as well?
    Genuinely curious.

I always like these comments, define way too expensive, apples to apples work, my experience has been there isn't quite the disparity a lot of members think.

However, when one quotes an annual service as as 12 hour fluids, filters, with actual checks, adjustments, and updates @ $2,500
then the other quotes an oil change & brake flush as an annual service and charges $1250 , then " too expensive " comes into play.
Little do they know, that the first shop would charge $850 for an oil change & brake flush with the fancy name...
    Then, who is more expensive?

    I should rephrase it.

My independent cost was 70% cheaper for very similar work over what the dealer quoted the OP. When he is servicing the car, I get daily updates including pictures of the work done. His work has been incredible and I've been working with him for 14 years and 4 Ferrari's.
