i think my old silver pc has this trojan. is there anywhere i can go and get a tool to look for and remove this? i have some on the symptoms on my old pc, and my searches have not turned up much. thank you for any help!
Have you tried this online scan tool? http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ Otherwise... The reviews at CNET of Simply Super Software's Trojan Remover are positive. However, the download at this site is only the update. The complete trial version is here http://www.simplysup.com/tremover/download.html Although their website isn't confidence inspiring I gave it a whirl, seemed like it worked and the log file showed it to be very thorough.
thanks for the help. i dug deep and there is no trojan, i did have issues with a spybot program not allowing a proper shutdown, so the computer would "hang", but there was a setting in spybot to fix that. i am going to back up the main drive to one of the slave drives on that pc and do a new install. i have a licensed copy of xp 64 and i freaking love it. i bought another 8 gigs of performance ram to max out the motherboard in the old computer , since xp 64 will support and see the extra ram, whereas xp 32 will not see or use more than 2.5 gigs. i will try the removal tool for fun and see if it finds anything. this old pc build has been running non stop for almost 6 years, and i recently updated it with new parts. my zalman coolers and heat sinks came in for my dual evga 8800gt 512 cards. i am going to mod them, overclock them, and run them in sli. i am sure there will be some driver issues, but thats how we learn, by pushing the machines harder! i will post some pics later, assuming i dont blow the computer up with the new mods!
My thoughts as well. Slaving in the main drive is the easiest way to do an upgrade. Gives you a clean install and then all of your files can be found on drive x (your old primary). Just don't forget the application specific data folders, but I'm sure you already know that.
