After many years, its finally that time. I've sold my C6 Z06 and have decided to take the plunge into the F-world. I was looking to get a gently used F458 Spider. My biggest concern to be honest is that I've never purchased a toy this expensive before!

What are your thoughts on Ferrari financial? I'm searching for a CPO certified Ferrari and would like to be pre-qualified (in order to work with several dealers). Quick stats: FICO around 770, and I was looking at putting 140K down.

My first foray into the ferrari world was a 458 spider - the ferrari finance was very expensive cf other options

    cheers,Bob

    Hi Bob,
Cheers on your 458 Spider as your first F-car. I'm in the US... Texas to be exact.

    First congrats.

Personally I would wait 5-6 months, as 458 market is VERY soft right now and going to get softer.

No need to jump in and take huge hit.

    Hang tight...as prices are dropping.

I actually found ferrari financial to be a good option. Rates were competitive, and best of all they don't report to credit agencies... so your credit report won't show a huge auto loan. They didn't even do a credit check when i applied.

Some credit unions might offer a point better rate, but most have a 100k cap on the size of the loan.

I don't think the 458 market is all that soft, no more then typical this time of year. It's easy to say it is with all the 488 talk, but there hasn't been a big drop in prices above and beyond typical winter depreciation. I say go for it.

I think that Ferrari Financial is easy to work with and they have very competitive rates. Also I respectfully disagree that the 458 prices will get softer in couple months. If anything it may get slightly stronger just before summer.

All three Texas dealerships want MSRP + 10-30K still on the spiders... All with several sitting on the lot not moving for months at a time. If I had to guess I would guesstimate a 50K drop in the next 3 months.

Since the F430 prices are slightly climbing up, listening to you guys one would think that you can grab a 458 cheaper than a F430 in few months:)))

Well one can always dream...but reality (per dealers) is 458 market is headed downward for the rest of the year. Don't shoot the messenger. Call a dealer and ask them to buy your 458. Then call that same dealer in June and see that they say. Either way you won't like the answer.

This is raw truth that my client experienced with his F430, when he offered it to his dealer few months after 458 presentation.

Welcome to the site Tony. Listen here is what I'll tell you. If you have the money spend and you love cars, GET THE FERRARI.

I'm not hating on Corvette but a Corvette is a Corvette. My wife and I just spent the entire weekend in Miami beach with a 458. All I can tell you is OH MY GOD!!!!!!!

The 458 is an incredible car and I'm not sure what people mean when they say the 458 doesn't draw attention. It may not scream attention like a space ship but the entire weekend people were gawking at me and my wife. Taking pictures of the car every where we went. Down I 95 kids and grown ups were hanging out of their windows taking pictures and giving us 2 thumbs up. Every where we went people were congratulating us on the car and just drooling. I was a little surprised because it was Miami, but the 458 is gorgeous.

458 your first Ferrari you're in for one hell of a treat!!!!

I also had a great experience with Ferrari Financial and their rates are competitive especially if you want to hang on to liquid cash. The 458 is am amazing machine! Do it!

I'm in the same shoes as you and just waiting for the "right deal" to present itself for a 458 and I'm going to pull the trigger. Just being a little extra cautious with the 488 around the corner so have to make sure I can buy at the right price.

I bought about 6-8 mo ago, no regrets at all.
If I were in your shoes, I'd buy pre Summer, and get a 10-11 model year, as the exhaust note is much better with the burbles and overruns.
These 458's are nearly bulletproof, I have no fears on warranty/costs.
I just want the car to be louder!

Regarding when to buy I say buy now life is short if you worried about depreciation then you are in the wrong place late model cars go down price..
Can't help you with the finance question can tell you having gone from corvettes to Ferrari you will love the car
    Best of luck

Although there are some deals out there on 2010 and 2011 models 2012 is when the 7 years of maintenance came into play which I think adds value.

Understood...IMO not needed as these cars are well built. I'd get the better sound.

Yeah to be honest although I think it's adds value I'm not that concerned with the maintenance program however I would like a warranty for peace of mind.
