Bob- The F1-S button selects and deselects the quick shifting (F1-S) of the Sport mode and has nothing to do with F1 Superfast. That button is in addition to the Sport button on the steering wheel. From the US MY 2006 OM:

    “F1-S” function
The “F1-S” function is characterized by faster gearshifting than in normal
    conditions.

    “SPORT” mode
The “F1-S” function is included in the “SPORT” mode strategies; when
the function is activated, “F1-S” appears on the display in addition to
the illumination of the “SPORT” warning light F.
To deactivate only the “F1-S” function, press button E; F1-S will
disappear from the TFT display but the “SPORT” warning light will
remain on. To reactivate the “F1-S” function, press button E again.
Furthermore, when this function is active, the CST system operation is
more noticeable and, during sharp accelerations, the vehicle’s grip on
    the road may be lower.

Good thing about having a separate button for the shifting speed is it allows you to have the shocks stiffer, stability control looser, and not beat up the gearbox until it is warm. Not possible on earlier F1 Ferraris. All or nothing, except for the Scud/16M, where you can do the opposite: everything in sport except the shocks (Schumacher switch).

Nothing wrong with the '80's and being dated! For me the World stopped in '86 and I wouldn't part with my TR for love nor money. I blame Don Johnson......

    That I was certain of.

Thanks. Couple short years since owning one and my memory had faded.

It IS a pretty car though :)

I bought my first Ferrari (360 spider) in 2004 - took my daughter and I to a Ferrari event at Homestead - Saw a brand new 612 and my daughter and I both said who would buy that!
Can't see the engine and can't track - well, needless to say five Ferraris later and much more educated I think it is one of the most elegant and classic car for its era - love driving it and the emotion it produces - still smells like a leather factory inside

You really have a stunning interior. It's rare on the pre-OTO's to see the diamond stitching, and I can't remember ever seeing another example where the dash insert wasn't either brushed aluminum or CF. Wrapped in leather looks so much better to me.

I really like the mono colored interior - very relaxing on the eyes - not all chopped up with different colors - its funny how different colors make different cars stand out

I guess that's everyones dream to design a new Ferrari anyway you want - or like some big collectors that design them all the same - interesting

$2-3k, but if time for a major, when you're in that deep you go for the cam seals, too, if any sign of leakage and that'll double the job. Though at nearly 10 years from the build date when I did my belts, I didn't need cam seals so it'***** or miss.

    I agree.
The whole 612 model range offers especially one thing: a VERY pretty car.

    Luxury, fast, stylish.
    A true Pininfarina masterpiece.

V12 normal aspirated engine and real world speed at highest level (I remember the ever praised Bentley GT dissapear on the German Autobahn in the rear mirror if you press the throttle hard at any speed) will give this car a bright future.

I would say: after the 612 the exterior design of Ferrari went not really better, well, could have used even different words for it. FF might be practical and superior in technics, but lacks style. And haven't F cars been all about style in the past?

A car as Enzo would have built it in the 60s: for the real Gentleman

I think it's the classiest available, definitely most comfy, and looking for it in my next fcar. So opinions vary.

The diamond stitch also seems to be popular as a ceiling option in the car.

Regardless, all the models came with lots of nice features.

Whilst I have no problem with the diamond-stitch seats, as a old school fan, I still prefer the Daytona option that I have on mine:

The FF's are still dropping. Plus the 612 is very unique and limited across all years.

Two problems with the 612, the second of which applies to most v12 Ferrari's: first the single clutch F1 tranny is dated and is not desirable on any car. Guess why 612 sticks are worth double? Second is it costs a fortune to run these cars, especially if you Put miles on them. Would guess maintenance alone approaches $3/mile. That badly limits the market, 612 or any similar vehicle.....

Plus not everyone loves the looks; 456 generally considered the best looking Ferrari 2 + 2 of the last 40 years....

Have you owned a 612, much less an OTO F1?

Have you driven an OTO and a regular 612 for comparison?
