Ever since my brief drive in a 458 on Saturday, I haven't been able to think about anything else. My mind is constantly on Ferraris, and I desperately feel like I need to drive it more!

I should've know this would've happened, but it's too late now. My love for F-cars has always been great, but it grew 10 fold after that amazing drive.

If you're looking to drive a Ferrari, don't do so unless you can purchase one shortly after :)

I don't know what to do about this obsession I have anymore. Normally it would be to come on FerrariChat and browse, but now that's not enough!

I'm 19 and have driven four Ferraris including a 458 Italia so I know exactly what you are going through. While Ferrari ownership is about four years down the road for me, I too ask myself what I can do to keep my obsession at a "maintainable" level. See thread:

Well, you can also see it as an inspirational drive [pun intended] to become successful and get a Ferrari of your own!

Although waiting is frustrating, it also gives you the full appreciation of what you've experienced so far and what you might achieve, and the true sense of accomplishment once you get there. I believe strongly that too many people get instant gratification these days and then discard the toy and go onto the next thing, without ever really feeling any sense of satisfaction.

I had to wait 7 years after my first drive before I got my own Ferrari and it was a truly memorable experience when I got there.

I want also to stress that whilst a 458 is wonderful, and I can't wait for my own to arrive in May 2012, you can have just as much true, sheer blissful, fun in a good 308GT4. Ferrari ownership is much more than the latest and greatest. They are all wonderful cars with each their own character and each one of them is, in their own way and within the confines of their design era, a great car to drive. The older ones also make it a lot easier to hold onto your driving license....

All the best, and sweet dreams. ;)

I agree with not going for the latest and greatest right away, but even so, ownership seems like a goal that's out of sight and far away at this point...

F430GB, I was gonna go to ExoticsRacing, but was a little (actually very) turned off by the fact that they tell you what to do every second, and you can't just enjoy the car! Some of the instructors are better, some are completely controlling and grab the wheel often. But luckily I was able to drive one normally on streets that I drive on everyday, which I wanted more because it gives you a feel of what it would be like to drive one if you owned it. And also, you mentioned ownership is about 4 years ahead of you. That's pretty soon! What Ferrari(s) are you looking at?

Toggie, I saw that video in the 458 section of the forums, simply amazing! Looks fantastic in Nero Daytona as well, loved the shots.

Back to JazzyO, I absolutely know that I want to own a Ferrari as soon as possible, and also for the rest of my life. Starting smaller and working my way up. It's just all too stressful thinking about how I'm going to be able to afford them. Sometimes I feel like it'll all work itself out, and other times I doubt my ability to be in such a financial situation that I can afford one. I don't want to get too far into this, there's so much conversation to be had about it, but I would love some tips/insight, after all you guys are the ones who own them! And also, it WAS an inspirational drive to become successful and get one of my own, and I'm more than willing to do what it takes, but once again I'm not sure how to get there... Hopefully things will be more clear in time. I'm definitely too young to have that figured out at this point.

I'm still obsessed with the 458. I want to tell the owner I want to see it again, but also don't want to bother him and annoy him, I don't know what to do! He said I could contact him if I wanted to see it again, but i still feel like a burden :(

When I was in college, I was bitten really bad by the Porsche bug. It helped motivate me to get through college and a couple of years later, I actually bought the car of my dreams. I couldn't have been happier - until I wanted to by the latest model! LOL

My advice to you is simple:

Establish and maintain a good credit rating. I can't emphasize this enough. If your credit is bad, it will be difficult to impossible to finance a Ferrari via a loan or lease.

Always set money aside for your dream, no matter how small the amount. The more money you can save the better, but we all know it's hard to save. Even if you only stash away 10-20% of what you're making, it's still better than nothing. Try to set goals and be consistent. If it helps, open up a separate saving account.

Think twice about every purchase make with discretionary money. i.e. Do you really need that new electronic gear or can you live without it? It's not like you have to stop living a normal life, but there are a lot of things that people buy that they can really do without.

You can make it happen, it just requires that you set some goals and discipline yourself. Think positive! :)
